Oh, no problem. France? How lucky! Hopefully we're going there next year.
Oh, I know, don't worry. I felt the same (though probably on a smaller scale) when the shooting in Tucson happened. There were 8 people killed instead of 90+, but there was still this feeling of shock and how unpredictable the universe is. And how it was really just chance that me or my loved ones weren't there. Truly, there is no way to completely prevent these things from happening, which is why we should make the most of each day (even though it sounds so cliché).
How was your summer?
Yeah, that stuff's awful. I mean, you don't even have words for it at first. It's something that runs deeper than language. I'm trying to write a college essay about my experience and thoughts of the Tucson shooting and how it changed me; it's not going well, unfortunately. Hopefully it will.
Alas, I am back in school, but at least my classes and teachers are kick-ass! I volunteered at the library and went to California and did lots of creative things over the summer, it was really nice except for being depressed most of the time.
