Yeah, Brendon's parents in The Green Light remind me a lot of mine, not his mom so much as his dad I suppose. I don't get along with him really well, but that's a long story that I don't want to bore you (or anyone, frankly) with. That and the whole divorse thing kinda got me officially addicted seeing as I had to go through that when I was 9. I mean it has been 5 years so it's not something I think about all the time anymore but it's still definitely something that's close to my heart.
