I finally wrote a new poem ... been working on Kaleidoscope (new novel) and working with my agent to get Songs of Galilee (old novel) sold, so I haven't had much time to write any verse. But I put it up on here. Just thought I'd let you know ... seeing as how you seem to take in the full breadth of feeling a poem expresses and so very few on this website do.

Yeah, I know how that feels...
I've been scraping up grades and any extra credit I can get to get a B in Geometry this six weeks. Because C's are just not acceptable for me and my ambitions.
Anyway, I have about 3 weeks to go until fall break so I'll have more time for myself then.

    I'm actually updating really rarely.
    LoL
I can only get on the computer on weekends. My updates stay to one chapter per week except this week. So, I don't really have any time...
    Haha.
Maybe you're just not on very often?
My life is consumed by dreaded school work and high school drama!
    So, how are you?

Push me too hard? It was more like the expectations were absurd. I made a 1580 on the SAT's when I was 11 years old, 20 points shy of perfect, and my family was disappointed, because the 1580 wasn't enough to get an 11 year old into Harvard ... only Princeton!

I was done with graduate school and had my phd before I was old enough to drink, my dear, but there is a downfall to going through all of that so early: I never had a childhood and was never treated as a child.

The first agency I submitted to decided to represent my work and found a publisher for 3 of my novels within days. I guess that's rare ... but I do have a lot more confidence in my ability as a novelist.

add me to myspace, you dork.

The collection of poems is only available online because I did NOT want to make it available nationwide. I'm not really proud of my poems. But, the easiest way to find a publisher is to not look for one: find a literary agent first, or go to quintamid (search for it online) and agents post stories they're looking for on the page. I found my agent and publisher at http://www.wlwritersagency.com/ ... they accepted my manuscript and optioned it off to publishers until someone picked it up. There are a lot of places, like booksurge, createspace, cafepress, author house, iuniverse, etc, that will publish and market your books for you for a fee, but to find a real publisher you need to get a real agent first.

my first and last name is my user name on here! but, my email is brandonknobles@charter.net and my name is brandon nobles. should work for myspace.

I try to get as personal and psychological with poems as I can, and it may come as no surprise, to you at least, that I got my PhD in psychology in 2006 and that has always been my first love. My interest, first and foremost, has always been the mind. If you liked the psychological insight behind The Owl poem, I think a better example of a Freudian portrait is the one painted of my mother in 'Bye, the Blankets Wave' which is also my favorite poem of mine.

The final draft of Attending Awake (my book of collected poems) is now available: it is 180 pages and contains 55 poems, and is available here: http://www.cafepress.com/Attending_Awake.295572492 ... all support is greatly appreciated. It's hard to make a living as a poet / author, though most of my money is made from paintings and novels. I'm sure you'd dig it, and if you do, pass it along. There are very few Southern / American writers today taken seriously, an this can at least be partly attributed to the egocentric poetry of the emo / goth variety. But, nonetheless, add me on myspace and check out the book. It's the last book of poetry I plan on publishing until my next three publications have ran course for a few years (3 novels over the next 6 months are to be released nationally) so, that's the last bit of poetry I plan on loosing upon the public. Thanks for your interest, and kind words, and support. It makes me feel as though I'm not Michael Jordan dunking a basketball in an empty arena!

I would say the only way my writing can be linked to Poe, aside from the homage I wrote to the Raven (posted on here as 'An Owl Asks a Schizo Who' ) would be the later period Victorian verse and English lyricism, tonal value, etc. My work may be somewhat, therefore, reminiscent in style, but in content (read, for example, my poem 'Bye, the Blankets Wave' or 'None by Sand Away' and tell me if you could imagine that sort of emotion from Poe.

Annabel lee is incessantly redundant, too many padding words, but a decent poem. The glass umbrella is a true story ... it's about a friend of mine who drowned and the poem is non-fiction, as is bye, the blankets wave ... non-fiction poems are my favorite to do, especially about members of my family ... i like doing freudian portraits in poetry, of people, go into their psychological makeup, and see what's underneath what they say, what emotion under the surface does it attach to, why does it attach, what does it's attachment cause, deeper and deeper and deeper :P

I'll be sure to let you know when Attending Awake is available. It will be available this Friday at 8pm. That's when I get out of bed. i go to bed at sun-up and wake up at twilight. twilight is dawn for me.

But ... i hope i've managed to distinguish myself from the poets of old I grew up reading (walt whitman, oscar wilde, aleksandr pushkin, schiller, goethe, milton, virgil, yeats, t.s. eliot, keats, omar khayyam, f. scott fitzgerald, christopher marlowe, shakespeare, etc, etc. I plan to name my next son Hamlet. :D
