So after two tries, two different error messages, and copious amounts of steam coming out my ears, I've finally decided to going back to typing my responses in a word processor before copy/pasting them into a comment box.

Most people in Canada call soccer soccer. We have too much American football up here to call soccer football. However, it does depends on the person. I play Gaelic Football with a bunch of Irish blokes and blarnies, and they'll call soccer football increasing often with relation to how little time they've been in Canada. I personally go back and forth between the two depending on who I'm talking to.

I google imaged corgis and they are so cute! I think they're now my second favourite type of dog. Sorry, but chow chows still rule. Corgis sorta remind me of daschunds, except that they have perky ears instead of droopy ones... but mesa likey.

Garbage cans with brooms stuck in them actually works sorta well for leaning to parallel park. Even if you hit them, they're so light that nothing gets hurt! Well, that's assuming that the garbage cans were otherwise empty... If they were full you might end up denting the car...

I like your dogs' names. Knowing me, I'd end up naming my dogs Poofball, Poofy, and Poofmeister. I'm not terrible original...

Muddy, grass-stained, and smelling like sweat. Hmmm....sounds sorta like my exercise clothes. They wouldn't happen to be addicted to playing rugby or soccer would they?

You guys have a hybrid? OOOh, mesa wants one. My parents nearly got one, but I'm not entirely sure why they didn't. Maybe something to do with long car trips and a lack of recharging stations?

And yes, manual=standard=stick shift for transmissions. I'm sure someone you know has one. Right before my parents got their current car, I would watch the technique of anyone driving me home in a standard so I could learn easier (Our old car was an automatic. Try parallel parking a minivan...)

I found what helped me most was driving to judo. It was the exact same route four times a week, so I didn't really have to worry about turning in the right place or anything, but at the same time the roads were important enough that I was still learning bits about traffic patterns, passing, and switching lanes.

How many dogs do you have? Any chow chows? They're my favourite type. Huge poof balls. But yeah...what type of dogs?

Do you actually have to do the laundry well? Actually it can be sorta fun *ducks flying objet*... I just sort everything into piles, and shove a pile at a time into the washer. I end up using the entire basement floor between the couch and the TV :D. Of course, I was the one that broke our old machine by overloading it...and the repairman was on a 2week vacation...and then my parents were on a 2week vacation...so they went something like a month w/o doing laundry, whereas I had finished washing my clothes, and had left for camp for the next two months. Don't you just love how stuff like that works out? :P

How long have you been driving for? I got my license right after my b-day in July, and I believe it took me until September before I was comfortable enough on the 60km/h roads for me to drive myself to judo. And then winter hit, and I was back to going really slowly through the snow. THEN, I found out how much fun fishtailing is :D (except if there's things near you that you shouldn't hit...).

I drive standard, so I have to manually change the gears for my engine. Most people will go 1-2-3-4-5, but double shifting is when you go 1-3, 2-4, or 3-5 without using the gear in the middle. It's fun :D So is trying to start in higher gears (I've managed to do 3rd - a gear which is normally used for 30km/h and up). :D I'm assuming you're driving an automatic transmission?

How long do you think your parents will be mad at you for?

Yeah, I supposed the whole going away and coming back later thing wouldn't really have worked since your dad witnessed the whole episode... But at least he wasn't in the car with you.
What was the fence made of? Was it one of those wooden slats fences?

When I got pulled over I was just going however fast you go without pushing either the gas or brake pedals. I don't know how fast that is. It's something like 5km/h. I out grew it though, and now I'm a speed freak obsessed with double shifting. Well, I'm not the fastest car on the road, but I do get annoyed when I can't pass someone going really slow. It's an experience thing.

If your family ever comes to Ottawa, there's a year-round Beavertail place in the Byward Market. Make sure you look it up. Obama even stopped there when he came to visit us. :P

You and your brother damaged your new fence? Do tell!!

And it can't be much worse than me. My first time driving I got pulled over by a cop for going too slow. And I was in front of my own house!!

And then my first time backing into my driveway in winter, I hit the wooden stake that my dad uses to hang the extension cord for the block heater (cause it gets that cold here). That thing is two feet off the driveway! Well, now it's three feet...

Are you just learning how to drive? How's it going?

Beavertails...OMG sugary goodness! You take dough, deepfry it so it's flat and about as long as your forearm, then I forget what they put on it (a liquid) to make the next stuff stay one, put then they cover it in a mixture of cinnamon, brown sugar, and regular sugar... oh no, now I'm craving one... and you can get them with lemon juice (ma préféré), or nutella, or whipped cream, or garlic and cheese, or... I think that's it. But they're really good...

And I'm being dragged off to judo early now so that my dad will be back in time to watch his show...

lol, it's a deal. You come up north next winter, and I'll take you to boule de neige. We'll go skating on the world's largest outdoor skating rick, get some exclusive Ottawa Beavertails (best treat ever!), go dog sledding, see the ice sculptures, hit up the snow slides, and catch some free concerts.

I LOVE ice cream sandwiches. During the summer I actually have to make an effort not to but them, because I can and have eaten an entire box in one day. Since I A) Pay for my own groceries and B) Compete in a sport with weight divisions, I decided I probably shouldn't go through a box a day. Even though I want to. Oh, that would be so delicious!

I must say I've never gone though a health food phase like that, though my mum did get me addicted to Bran Buds. Mmmmmmm.........

Ummmm...Chapter 28 in your In Too Deep story wouldn't happen to be the end of the story, would it?
    I'm confused.

lol to the food. Have you had any ice cream and PB lately? I tried that and it was heavenly. Especially with Oreo ice cream... I think I'm gonna have to go have some now.

Call me weird but I'd rather write a 1500 words essay than do 5 short Qs on imagery. Wanna join the club with me?

As for snow...I think you need to take your 'lots', and double it. Last winter we had sixteen feet of snow. Of course there were melting spells so that the snow wasn't actually sixteen feet deep, but there was ALOT of snow. The snow banks beside my parents' driveway were tall enough to hide their Toyota Sienna (minivan). We don't have as much snow this year, but the snowbanks are still big enough to hide the Toyota Corolla they bought when gas prices skyrocketed.
Plus, we have an entire festival dedicated to snow and winter. We call it Boule de Neige, or Winterlude. The main attractions are skating on the canal (largest outdoor rink in the world), ice sculptures, and iceslides. It starts next weekend, and I'm psyched!

And your story totally deserves to be in my recommended section!

No, I haven't read The Reader, but just the title alone makes it sound cool, descriptive scenes aside. Hang on, if it's disturbing why are you reading it?

I actually sorta pity your brother. Really. I HATE imagery. Plot, theme, stuff like that I'm fine with, but for imagery I made sure to write down everything my teacher told us, and memorize it for the exam. I didn't do well with imagery.

Does it get warm...define warm? 25oC (80F) is normal for the summer, though we'll have a heat wave or two in August where it's 30oC (90F) for three or four days in a row. Actually, last summer it wasn't too to warm, since it rained EVERYDAY, and rain helps tempers temperatures. I'd rather of had the heat, since I worked outdoors, grumble grumble. But yeah. I definitely agree with your on the cold though. If I didn't have my knee length uber jacket I'd freeze my rear off at -40. Except I sorta think we need to -40 to appreciate the -2oC, which is AMAZING. I call those hammock days :D
