It reminds me of being in Neverland! I love how you sliped in unsuspecting magical parts. Every time I read your poem I find something new. The first time it felt kind of felt warm a happy, then the second time I realized how creepy it was, and then the last time it was almost this....scary romantic haunted feeling. And I almost feel as though this island is an island of sin? I realize that's a funny thing to say, but it's like every stanza of the poem is one of the 7 deadly sins:
Maybe whole of the poem is greed, because explores were stranded on the island looking for gold?
And then: Pride Vanity Rage Sloth Lust Envy
Maybe the last one is kind of like being saved?
I dunno. Ack. It's an odd thing to say and I'm not super religious so my definitions of what "sin" are kind of amateur...but do you think that could fit? Although I'm sorry if this wasn't your intention at all and I've gotten it all wrong! Haha.
i saw this on the good poetry list cuz i was just put on too and was like "awwww yay binx!" and i'm glad to know i'm in great company :)
i love this poem. poems about the ocean are some of the best in my opinion.
