This is a feeling that everyone can relate to at some point during their life. It's a strong sense of loss and you really conveyed that here. Before you mentioned death I felt that the first half of the poem could have related to any type of loss: losing a friend, a breakup, etc. I really felt and related to the third stanza. As a writer, no matter what type of loss you experience it is difficult to try and put what you're feeling into words. Although, here you did it. This pain is definitely difficult to live with and describe. I also personally related to the dreams of old memories and of the dead. It's like a sick trick of the mind of being reminded of that person and then it's snatched right out of your hands and they you're reminded that they're no longer there. This is definitely my favorite out of the three that you submitted for the contest!

I sometimes think how, it's a fine line between feeling something and nothing, how we can walk on the line itself so there is no feeling. And I use to think that the test of life, at least when I was growing up in my child and teenage life, was that hell is on earth and we are all being tested by the best and the worst.
