I do agree with the Leighton Meester part, but I did love the album. The girls were okay, but the only part I liked them in was Nice Guys Finish Last. Otherwise, the rest were really terrible. But it's not really Gabe's fault, I guess he WAS trying to help his voice with the girls and stuffs. :\
I was skeptical about buying it because of all the reviews I read on them by other people. But once I got it when it came out, I loved it. I love Hot Mess. It's an amazing album. Not the best by Cobra but it's still good.
They could have done without the group of girl's singing on some of the tracks though. Those vocals are annoying.
I still think Gabe has a wonderful voice. It's not the same as before but he still has an amazing voice.
The cover kinda makes me laugh. It reminds me of this guy who had a tattoo on the inside of his lip that said "cheer up" up-side down. It was pretty funny.
I agree completely with you about leighton meester not being very good in that song. It makes me sad to know that the ONLY reason cobra starship is getting so much attention from a bunch of mtv brainwashed people now, is simply because bloody leighton meester is in it. In my personal opinion, I think she's a terrible singer and can't believe she's actually been compared to cat power, and idiots saying that she sounds "original". But that's just me, hah. I've felt that their last two albums were a bit disapointing, because they're OVERLY pop-y. There's more synths then other instruments, some of the songs have to have all the different keyboards played in a speaker or w/e, and some of the drumming kind of sounds like it was done on a machine? But I still love it, because it's cobra starship and it's impossible for me to not love everything they put out, haha. Even if most of the songs are fillers, and have horrid backup singing.
Yeah...I like Vicky's voice better than Leighton's, but overal its a good, catchy song.
What about You're Not In On The Joke? I think that song shows a different siad to Gabe and its good in general.
I didn't really like The World Will Never Do.
Loved The ones you mentioned, You're Not In On The Joke, Nice Guys Finish Last, Move Like You Gonna Die, and Wet Hot American Summer. And Living In The Sky, With Diamons is growing on me.
yeah, i wasn't very fond of leighton meester's voice in the one song they played. :| I think they could've gone with someone better. but i would say her voice way okay...
Does anyone else see....like...a pattern here with Gabe and his bands...you know...Cobra fans aren't pleased with Hot Mess, their third major album...Midtown fans weren't pleased with Forget What You Know...their third major album....or is that just me who has noticed that?
umm....just throwing it out there...don't be sad when Cobra doesn't make a fourth album, cause a lot of the changes and lack of positive feed back from fans did actually play a part in Midtown's hiatus/break up.
i'm so glad the album was leaked that way i didn't have to pay 15$ to be disappointed. this a terrible album. there's maybe three songs where i feel like they tried. the rest is just bullshit so they could put out an album. gabe really needed to take voice lessons after his surgery, his voice sounds horrible. leighton meister is the only reason why they're getting attention for that song. she was even in their stupid commerical for mtv.
i loved Hot Mess, not the whole album but a majority of the song. but we all have diffrnt opinion. I totally agree with Good Girl's Go Bad and Leighton Meester. The song's really good with her in it, but they could have used another singer.
