Johnny Depp John Christopher Depp (aka Johnny Depp) was born June 9, 1963. Despite many peoples' beliefs, he is not British. He was born in Owensboro, Kentucky and raised in Florida.
At age 15 he dropped out of school to be a rock musician. He fronted a series of garage bands.

Johnny got into acting after a trip to Los Angeles, California. His former wife, Lori Anne Allison, introduced him to Nicolas Cage. His film debut was in A Nightmare On Elm Street in 1984. Soon after, he was a star when he replaced Jeff Yagher in the popular TV series 21 Jump Street.

In 1990, he collaborated with director Tim Burton and was the main character in the move Edward Scissorhands. He continued to climb the ladder of success and popularity by appearing in many features until teaming up with Burton in Ed Wood in 1994. In 1997 he played an undercover FBI agent in the film Donnie Brasco.. In 1998 he appeared in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas directed by Terry Gilliam.

Depp has played many characters, including the ever popular Captain Jack Sparrow in the family blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean.

Johnny frequenty plays "freakishly eccentric outcasts whose oddities are misunderstood by society, and usually have a flamboyant appearance and mannerism." He often works with Tim Burton and bases his performances on rock stars.
