Colin Healy and the Jetskis!

Colin Healy and the Jetskis! You've all heard them before: those small town bands with the unique sound and the feel-good lyrics. They're popular on Myspace, where they have a strong but dedicated fan base. They might play a few shows here and there, get their name spread around. A few of them will even make it to the point where they are popular enough to be known in those ultra cool inner circles of musicians and music freaks who reject the stereotypical songs of today for bands with a more rare sound.

Colin Healy and the Jetskis is one of those bands. They mix upbeat, eclectic sounds with deep, well thought out lyrics written by the band members themselves. What's even more intriguing is that most of said band members are only in high school. The band consists of Colin Healy, lead singer and keyboarder, Harry Weber, guitarist, Cullen MacDonald, guitarist and back up vocalist, Ried Magette, bassist and vocalist, and Jimmy Kells on drums.
Although they haven't released a CD yet, one of their most popular songs, Stuck in a Small Town, has been placed on a Rock4Life compilation disc, available now. They have also played many local shows with bands such as Neighborhood Friendly, Sparky's Flaw, and Maraschino.

The band hails from Richmond, Virginia, and are becoming increasingly popular among the underground music group. Ryan Muldoon of Richmond Times Dispatch says, "...there seems to be nothing rudderless about the band's piano-driven, upbeat-but-heartbroken pop nuggets, maneuvering easily from Ben Folds-ish hooks to a youthful racket, dropping anchor nowhere in between."

They play a great show, and they're also very friendly, taking the time to thank individuals for coming to see them perform. The band expects a CD of their songs to arrive soon. Colin Healy and the Jetskis is truly an amazing band that can only be expected to improve even more. Give their realistic, powerful sound a try and you won't be disappointed at what your ears hear!
