Alexi Laiho Through And Through

Alexi Laiho Through And Through Alexi's musical interest sparked at a very young age, as he took up violin. However, his love for heavy metal overpowered the classical genre, so he ended up dropping the violin at age 11, only to be replaced with guitars. His guitar style was greatly influenced byRoope Latvala of Stone, while his vocal technique leaned more towards Phil Anselmo of Pantera.

In 1993, Laiho created the band IneartheD, now named Children Of Bodom, with Jaska Raatikainen and Samuli Miettinen. Two years later Laiho quit school so he could concentrate completely on his music, at the age of sixteen. He was also in Thy Serpent for a brief period of time, but it didn't work out.

After the release of COB's debut, Alexi got an offer to join Impaled Nazarene, which he accepted and remained in the band until 2001, but always put it second to Children Of Bodom.

In 1999, he was asked to join Sinergy as lead guitarist and support keyboard player. Roope Latvala joined two years later resulting in many guitar battles during solos.

Alexi's life is dedicated to basically all music, but when off tour, you can find him playing video games, drinking, or practicing. At home he drives a Pontiac Firebird, 1974 Dodge Monaco, and a Buick. He has referred to the members of Children Of Bodom as "The only real friends I've ever had." Guitar World Has ranked him 16th in the top 50 fastest players in the world and he is slowly building his way up a great musical empire.
