Green Day in Los Angeles

Green Day in Los Angeles On August 25th, 2009, many Green Day fans came to The Forum in Los Angeles, California to witness the final show in the United States.

The setlist included songs from their first album "39/Smooth" to their most recent work, "21st Century Breakdown", ranging from "Tight Wad Hill" to "Before The Lobotomy".

Quite a few people were pulled up from the crowd, for example, Billie Joe pulled up a boy who looked no older than thirteen years old to sing "Longview". Then later on he pulled up another young man who looked no older than 21, to play "Jesus Of Suburbia" on the guitar. At Billie Joe's request, they both left the stage via stage dive.

At one point during the show, Billie Joe, Mike Dirnt, Jason White and Jason Freese all got on the floor and Billie began singing things from Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" to The Doors' "Break on Through".

After Armstrong stood up he changed his voice so he sounded like the frontman of Guns N Roses and began singing "Sweet Child O' Mine".

Suddenly stopping, and letting the crowd finish the verse.

Somewhere in between a song Billie Joe decided to tell us a story.

It was about himself and his friend Brando (yes, that was his real name).

About a night where they went out to a bar and Billie Joe got a call from his wife, Adrienne. Then the two began an argument and Armstrong excused himself, and went outside.

They continued to argue untill a car passed by.

In the words of Billie Joe, A guy stuck his head out the window and yelled, "Fuck you Billie Joe, Fuck Green Day, go fuck yourselves."

Now, ordinarily I don't care, say whatever the fuck you want, I don't care. But I was in the heat of passion, so I told my wife to hold on, and I jumped through the car window in the backseat and started beating the shit out of the guy in the backseat, yelling "Fuck you motherfucking piece of shit!" While the two guys in the front were like, Get this crazy fucker out of here!

According to Armstrong, he eventually did get out of the car and his friend Brando couldn't believe that Billie had gotten into a fight.

I went to get my phone and I told my wife, "Baby, I love you" and she said "I love you, too" and we ended it at that.

At one point during the show, bassist Mike Dirnt put on a pair of cat ears and a cat tail, while drummer Tre Cool put on a womens sun hat and a bra, causing much amusement in the crowd.

They ended the show with "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)" and Billie Joe thanking the city of Los Angeles for soming to the show.

Overall, it's safe to say Green Day failed to disappoint, as Billie Joe Armstrong made it seem like he was talking to each and every person in the crowd personally, not as if he was talking to a large mass of people.

Many thanks to Green Day for giving me a show I'll never forget.
