The Stone Heart Trilogy

The Stone Heart Trilogy The Stone Heart Trilogy, definitely three books to keep an eye out for. This series, written by Charlie Fletcher, takes you from the London you know and/or heard of, to a London with moving statues and cynical birds.

You start out with a boy named George, struggling to fit in with his class on a trip to the museum. George is put out into the hall as a punishment for knocking down a stand of brochures. He decides to go against his teacher's order of not leaving the hall, and walks out of the museum. Out of anger, he breaks off the head of a dragon statue that stood outside the museum. After this, strange things happen. Gargoyles come to life, He thinks he has gone crazy, and meets a statue that will teach him a lot of the unseen, mythical, crazy London that George never knew of.

Charlie Fletcher does go a little over-board on the details of something as simple a motorbike streaking down the street. He ,at times, does use too much of a page explaining the architecture or details of something irrelevant to the current happenings. Regardless, the first book will leave you in suspense and with a part of chapter one from the second book, you'll be heading back to the bookstore right away.
