The Other Boleyn Girl

The Other Boleyn Girl Set during a time of religious Reformation and the Renaissance, The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory provides an amazing look into the lives of two of the most contrasting sisters in English history.

The story is about the Boleyn’s, and their two beautiful daughters-Mary and Anne. Mary is a girl with blonde hair and light eyes-the perfect, beautiful English girl. Her sister Anne, on the other hand, is dark, wise, and perfect at everything she does. Having spent most of her life in the French court, her accent is French, as is her style and her manners. No sisters could be least alike, yet each is striving for just one thing-the love of a king.

In the end they must turn against each other, be rivals like no other, and betray everyone they know to win King Henry VIII. How far will they go, and how will they keep the king’s love with his old and barren wife in clear view? A story about love, court intrigue, spies, and nasty rumors, this book is sure to please anyone you wants to learn more about this dangerous time in English history-the days of the Tudor reign.

The Other Boleyn Girl was an eight out of ten for me, only because of the incredible historical inaccuracies. If this is something that gets to you I suggest you skip this book. Though Philippa Gregory is quite an amazing author, nothing can cover the fact that some facts in there are quite false.
