How To Ditch Your Fairy

How To Ditch Your Fairy How To Ditch Your Fairy is the most recent contribution to YA Literature from Justine Larbalestier, author of the bestselling Magic or Madness trilogy. After eagerly devouring the entire MoM series, I became a huge fan of the author, and her latest novel does not disappoint.

Charlie Steele is a fourteen-year-old living in New Avalon, where everyone has their own personal fairy. Most people are relatively content with their fairies - Charlie’s best friend Rochelle has a clothes - shopping fairy, for example - but Charlie is sick and tired of her parking fairy. People are constantly asking her to ride somewhere with them to ensure that they’ll get an excellent parking spot, but Charlie, who can’t drive and doesn’t like cars, does not enjoy this. So she sets off on a mission to get rid of her fairy once and for all.

After teaming up with her worst enemy, Fiorenze (who has an all-the-boys-like-you fairy) Charlie finally achieves her goal. But the results aren’t quite what she expected, and if she wants her life to be normal again, she’ll have to do something outrageous.

How To Ditch Your Fairy is fun and ridiculously entertaining. I recommend it to anyone who’s a fan of Justine Larbalestier’s previous work, and to those who appreciate a bit of whimsy in their reading.
