Get Marked

It's hard enough to be sixteen, but in Zoey Redbird's world where vampires not only exist but are abundant, it can be even harder to fit in as a teenage girl. Zoey was doing fine, with her friends, her boyfriend, Heath, and family, but then when Zoey's worst nightmare comes true and she is marked and starts the change into a vampire, her life comes crashing down on top of her.

Now, Zoey is a vampire fledgling and like all other vampire fledglings, she must attend the House of Night, a school for vampires and taught by adult vampires. Even if she is a vampire, she still has to deal with regular teen girl drama involving her human 'almost' ex-boyfriend, to whom she develops a strong imprint, or love like feeling, for after she accidentally tastes his blood when her old best friend and Heath try to sneak into the school to see Zoey. She also has to get used to going to school during the night and sleeping during the day, and her new and unusual classes. And with her new band of friends, who are all also vampire fledglings, and with a little help from her assigned vampire mentor, Neferet, who is also the High Priestess of the House of Night, she must get used to her new life.

Something was different about Zoey Redbird's marking. When she was marked, she had an out of body experience and came face to face with the goddess Nyx, who the vampires worship, and the goddess bestows Zoey with special powers. And her Mark, which for normal fledglings is the outline of a crescent moon placed directly in the middle of their forehead, is filled in a sapphire blue, which doesn't happen until you become a full fledged vampire.

As if life isn't complicated enough for Zoey while she comes in tune with her goddess-given powers, Erik Night, extremely hot vampire fledgling extraordinaire, takes a special, romantic, interest in Zoey. But, when Zoey first sees Erik, she finds him in quite the compromising position with his 'ex'- girlfriend Aphrodite.

Aphrodite is not only Zoey's flame's ex-girlfriend, but she is also the leaders of the powerful group of vampyre fledglings at the House of Night, the Dark Daughters and Sons. And when Zoey messes with Aphrodite, she's messing with a very high power.
