They Cage The Animals At Night

They Cage The Animals At Night Mom! What's wrong?"

It started with the simple words "I'll Be Right Back." That's where our tale begins.

In 1950 in Brooklyn, New York, Jennings Michael Burch is abandoned at The Home of The Angels, a foster home and orphanage. Listening to his mother's words, he believes he'll only be home in a few hours.

That fantasy ends there.

Jennings comes across many characters as his childhood progresses. There's Mark, a "lifer" who knows the rules, and never stands up for himself when picked on. There's Stacy, a girl who's convinced her stepfather hates her and is in the Home until her new sibling is born. Then, there's Butch, the "tough guy" of the Home. All three come from different backgrounds, or not background at all, and leave memories in each other's hearts forever.

None of them are friends though, in fear that they will lose one another. As Jennings moves through his life through abusive foster homes and comes across loving characters, he does not make it through alone. He does have one friend by his side: Doggie, an old, tattered stuffed dog from the Home.

As Jennings and Doggie go through the pain and humiliation, their will to survive and constant optimism keep you hooked on every page.

But as you read, you keep asking the question: Will he make it home? And what await him there?

Based on the ever true story of the emotional, heart breaking childhood of Jennings Michael Burch, you will not be disappointed at any point in this read.

Promise me you won't stop asking questions? Good. And If it all goes wrong for you, don't give up. Hang in there...
