"I Could Pee on This: And Other Poems by Cats"

I Could Pee on This: And Other Poems by Cats is a humorous collection of short poems written "by cats" (compiled with a little help from a human named Francesco Marciuliano) about the hilarious and sometimes bizarre things we witness our pets do.

The title poem of the anthology, I Could Pee on This, provides a prime example of the wit present throughout the entire book that will, quite literally, have you laughing out loud:

"Her New Sweater doesn't smell of me
I could pee on that
She's gone out for the day and left her laptop on the counter
I could pee on that
Her new boyfriend just pushed my head away
I could pee on him..."

Other poem titles featured in this anthology include Who is That on Your Lap, Your Keyboard, and my personal favorite, Some of My Best Friends Are Dogs. Each poem is complete with an author "picture", and the publishing company has created a great youtube video of the cats narrating their poems.

I discovered this book in a local small press bookstore, but you can also find it online. It makes a great read for anyone who adores their cat, and a great gift for cat lovers, especially someone who may have recently lost a beloved pet. The poems, though humorous, are well written and explore a variety of forms.

Dog lovers, fear not, there is also a companion book titled I Could Chew on This: And Other Poems by Dogs.
