Point Blanc

Then the clouds rolled in. The countryside was gone. So was his only weapon. Alex was on his own.

Reluctant teenage spy Alex Rider is back, complete with a new mission. After being dumped back into school, Alex expected life to go back to normal. No MI6, no excitement and no near-death experiences. Just double homework and a secret that he can’t tell any of his friends.

But after a chance encounter with a drug dealer and a police constable lands Alex in major trouble, MI6 are back in contact, ready to pack him off on another explosive adventure. This time, Alex is travelling to a prestigious finishing school located in the French Alps to investigate. Point Blanc is a school that caters for the rich and the famous and is also the only thing that connects the deaths of two well-known men on opposite sides of the world.

Armed with the usual array of gadgets and a fake ID, Alex’s job is strictly reconnaissance. Go in, look around and report back. However, things never run as smoothly as they should in Alex’s world and the fourteen-year-old soon finds himself in another life-or-death situation.

The second adventure in the Alex Rider series, Point Blanc gives readers another glimpse into the life of a teenage spy. Alex is as interesting a character as ever and his trip to the Alps is filled with suspense, action and wisecracks typical of a teenage boy. Anothony Horowitz has managed to create a world that is both intriguing and hooks readers in right from the get-go.

Although classed as a young adult Point Blanc is a fantastic addition to anyone’s bookshelf; adult or child!
