Tuesdays With Morrie

Tuesdays With Morrie Mitch Albom is the author of the popular book 5 People You'll Meet in Heaven, as well as Tuesdays With Morrie.

When Albom is in college, he has a professor, Morrie, who has unique methods and a brilliant philosophy. Mitch becomes close to his professor and upon graduation, he promises he'll visit Morrie.

When Mitch's uncle passes away of cancer, Mitch becomes afraid of spending his whole life working his ass off to stay alive and not being able to see his family much. Mitch became afraid of spending his life like that and started to put all of his energy into his job.

He gets so caught up in his life, he doesn't stay in contact with his quirky old professor.

One night, while channel surfing, Mitch comes across a show doing a segment on an old man who contracted ALS, more commonly referred to as Lou Gherig's disease. He probably would have passed the channel by like all the others. But then he recognized the name they mentioned. The name of his professor he had broken a promise to.

Mitch becomes determined to see him before the disease takes his life to make up for the years he was caught in his own life.

I personally thought this book was depressing, but also inspiring. I liked learning about Morrie's views and wish I knew someone so genuine with such a unique perspective.

It was a true story which made it a little harder for me to read, due to personal experience, but even though it made me cry a few times, it is absolutely worth reading.
