Alice Madness Returns

Alice Madness Returns is the take on the beautiful story of Alice in Wonderland except that in this storyline, everything isn't wonderful and instead of trying to escape reality, you're faced with a sinister, dark, twisted story where nothing is what it seems. In this game you play as Alice, a girl who has lived with the guilt of thinking she killed her family and her home who now is an orphan stuck in an asylum. She believes she has gotten better and is ready to leave the asylum but once she's out of there she ends up going back to Wonderland but it isn't how she remembered. The story includes Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter, The Caterpillar, White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts.

The gameplay is a little glitchy but it doesn't ruin the whole game. I think the game could have had more checkpoints because when you die, you will have to go back to two levels from where you are at exactly and I admit it does get frustrating. You get to carry three weapons which include a blade, a pepper shaker, and a tea pot. Controls were a little unresponsive and it took quite some time to actually get an attack done or a jump because in this game you have to jump a lot of complicated placed platforms where if you fall, you have to start over. Slashing enemies is fun I'll give you that, just trying to make Wonderland great again you go through many difficulties and you might get stuck for a few hours, well I got stuck in one part.

The plot is very disturbing as you go on in the game. You start to see flashbacks from where the fire happened and how exactly did Alice her sister burned also it shows the reason why Wonderland has become so horrible for the years that have passed. It actually leads to being the fault of the person you thought was actually helping her but no, instead he was trying to erase her memories so she wouldn't see what he had done. I don't want to give too much away in case if anyone actually gives this game a try.

Overall, I don't think the game got enough recognition just because it wasn't long and the glitches did mess up the game in certain parts. This game gets an 8/10 from me.
