Truth be told, I liked Gemma Arterton as Gretel in this, and I believe its thanks to this movie that Gemma managed to get the part for one of the main roles in Byzantium. I liked her character, it was strong and what made me like this movie more was the fact that it had bits of romance but fantasy was the main genre along with action.
Famke Janssen as the bad witch was something I wasn't expecting when I downloaded this movie, and it surprised me in a good way. Her acting reminded me how she acted in X-Men, the third movie in order.
Even though I wouldn't give a perfect ten to this movie, at least I could rate it with an eight, because I didn't like how the witches looked like.
