Jacob is a (spoiler alert!) shapeshifter from the little town of La Push, Washington. Although eternally 16, he is presuming the age of 17 throughout most of the story. He is a senior at La Push High School, and his primary hobbies include stalking Heather, smoking cigarettes, riding his motorcycle, and being shirtless.

Janice Brown, neé Clearwater

Janice is Chester and Heather's flighty and young-hearted mother. She harbors great love for her children, and although she may sometimes be immature, she is always there for them in time of need. She is Harry Clearwater's younger sister, and Sue Clearwater's sister-in-law.

Snarky and ripe with boyishness, Chester (or Chet) is the stereotypical younger brother with a twist. Although he and Heather quarrel and disagree, the loss of their father bound the two from a young age, and Heather is viciously protective of her Chet, despite his five-inch (and growing) height above her.
