Born to famous hairdresser Murphy Callum-Vader and ADA father Andrew Vader, she led a privileged youth. She and her brother went to all the best schools, including the Camellia Ridge Academy of Arts (a private boarding school in town), where she excelled in music. When Annette was eleven years old, she discovered that she was adopted and, though her parents and other relatives gave her all the love she could hope for, she chose to seek out her biological family. Out of them, however, she found only her grandmother--a woman named Elaine McGinnis. She and Elaine grew close and, sequentially, Annette became more and more estranged from her adoptive family, desperate to connect with her roots. Just before the start of her Junior year of high school, Annette was called to be told that Elaine was dying, and had only a few months to live. She made the decision to take the time off school to help her grandmother, who had no other willing family, to get her affairs in order and help her to be as comfortable as possible. Near Christmas, Elaine finally passed and, much to her surprise, Annette inherited her large house and all her money and assets. When she turned eighteen, she moved into the house, getting a job to help with the upkeep, though her inheritance offered the assurance that she would never have to work again. Since she'd skipped her Junior year, however, she not only had to repeat the year, but lost her place at the boarding school and was forced to transfer to Grey Valley High School. -- When was is nineteen, Annette met (and became good friends with) Kalila Aberman, at an All Time Low concert. And when she was emotionally hurt by Alex Gaskarth, Annette called on Kal to help her show him how wrong he was about her. This, eventually, leads to the forming of Defy the Omniscient.
