Ariel was left to take care of herself a lot when she was younger, which matured her a lot. She graduated from school at age 16, but stays living with her dad for now. She will go to college when she is 18 or 19, she has not decided where yet. She doesn't remember her mom, since she died from cancer when Ariel was 1 year old.
