Ellen's father and the head of the Pittsburgh chapter of the St. Andrew's Society, organizes the annual Burns' Night festivities. He is a member of the Sutherland clan and a nephew of the clan chief, his whole air that of a Highland chieftain somehow stuck in the modern day. Has a secret about him and Ellen that comes out later in the story.

Kris' father, who is actually an immortal Breton wizard from the days of the Druids in ancient Gaul. His immortality is actually a curse as he was put under a spell by another Druid, his sons all die young and it will be that way until one of his sons can break the curse. Him and Kris' mother were not married and Kris believes his father is in prison or dead, has no idea about Hugo being his father or his real heritage. Can shape shift into any form and often does so when he wants to blend in and not be noticed by anyone.
