Grace Polk (portrayed by Becky Wahlstrom) is a cynical, pessimistic girl who is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. A rebel, she is not afraid to tell someone her true opinion of them. She is a very private person for several reasons, one of which includes her mother being an alcoholic.

Judith Montgomery (portrayed on the show by Sprague Grayden) was Joan's friend when she was made to attend "Crazy Camp" for a summer. She was killed in the beginning of Season 2 due to a bad choice and mistake she made.

Ryan Hunter (portrayed by Wentworth Miller) only appeared on the show at the end of Season Two. In the last episode, it was revealed that Ryan also talks to God and had been doing so since he was fourteen. Having a sinister agenda in mind, he is on good terms with the police department (including Joan's father), many teachers (including Joan's mother), and Adam Rove (he saved his life).
