the father of the protagnist; Branden. John was the only person Branden really ever had. he was a man of virtue and strong convictions. he was a person who Branden thought of as a mentor and he was everything Branden wanted to be: a good person. John is based on someone who was a mother to me when i didn't have one. she was a mentor to me and John is very much like her. her name was Clara and funny how the mother's name was Clair in the story.

mother of Branden Renoir. little was mentioned of Clair, she died when Branden was very little and he has no real good memories of her; if any at all. not much can be said about her since she just wasn't around even when she was alive. Clair is based on my mother. while my mother is still alive today she was absent, and for the most part always has been. i felt the need to portray my real mother as Branden's mother since she was more along the lines of her.

Teresa was the lover of Branden. a guiding light for him even after they barely found each other. there was a love never felt prior or since on his end. this was someone who had an everlasting impact on Branden. Teresa is based on my girlfriend of the same name. one of the only character that shares the first name of the person they are based off of. while the story of Teresa Bonnet and Teresa in reality differ tremendously there is a few similarities: one there was a connection on my end the second we met andshe's had an impact on my life and writing (OBVIOUSLY)

Serena O'hare first love for Branden. Serena O'Hare was based off of a childhood friend of mine that i grew up with named Serena Calderon. growing up, even at a really young age, i always had an attachment to her but she moved away and i never heard from her again.

Charles Hemmingway

Charles Hemmingway was an acquaintance of Branden's during the Impressionist group era. Hemmingway was based on a friend of mine who i met after we founded an impressionist group. he was a good guy but he was obsessed with himself and being in charge. Hemmingway portrays his selfish attitude in a decent way but Hemmingway personally shows more merit.

Jean-Pierre. one of Branden's closest friends. Jean was influenced by a friend of mine named Rob who always thought he was so smooth with the ladies but failed miserably. when i started the writing process Jean was to be portrayed as such; almost a comic relief but he was developed quickly into a more mature character that ended up playing a much bigger role than what i was anticipating.

Claire (not to be mistaken with Clair) was one of Branden's closest friends and someone who he had a romantic romp with. she was a moral support that Branden desperately needed. Claire was based off of an ex of mine who, while i cared about, i didn't have a whole lot of interest in a sexual way. i cared about her but she came into my life and popped out often. always popping in at the times where i just needed to be with someone for whatever reasons, usually emotional.

Elsie the prostitute Branden visited frequently for more moral support. Elsie is based off of a friend of mine named Cassey who i never had sexual relations or feelings for in any way. Cassey was always one that i could go to for advice without the fear of being ridiculed or judged. it was only fitting that she had a role in this. (and no Cassey, i am not saying or suggesting you are a prostitute because of this. haha)
