  Damon is a ghost criminal who manages to escape from confinement, disregarding the level of security. He does not speak much and when he does do so, he doesn't say much. He rarely shows any emotions, but when he does, it is only when he is killing. A sadistic smile always crosses his face when killing his victims -he finds the outmost pleasure in doing so. He lacks moral restraint (killing Father Augustine in a place many consider holy). When killing, his behaviour borders on insanity as he is smiles and sometimes laughs at the sight of his victims. He kills everyone alike -children, women and men. He changes drastically, however, when he finally meets his neighbour.

  She is very religious and cares for everyone. She is willing to go against the law inorder to help others -allowing Damon to stay at the convert. She is also very trusting and believes in the nuns -when Sister Clarence left Damon's room, she genuinely thought she had entered for the sole reason of checking up on his health. She respects Father Augustine and expects the same from all the other nuns.

  Sister Clarence recently joined the convert. She is very kind and rather curious. Her curiousity sometimes leads her to break the rules in order for her to find answers to questions. She takes an interest in Damon and is slightly attracted to him, though she tries not to let her desires take over. She is very active and is skilled in many areas, such as first aid. Sister Margret feels that she is rather free-spirited, after seeing her leave Damon's room and takes it upon herself to punish her for her actions.

  She is very conservative and is angered when Mother Superior allows Damon to stay at the convert, however, she doesn't show her displeasure to Damon. She pretends to be polite when in his company, only for the sake of the reputation of the nuns. Sister Margret believes that his presence is taboo and despite trying to talk Mother Superior into letting him go, she is unable to convince her to do so. She uses draconian methods because she believes that nuns should conduct themselves in a certain manner. She lacks true compassion and often disobeys Mother Superior despite the fact that her word is final. The only person she seems to respect is Father Augustine.

  Lisa Briggs is Damon's psychologist. Though she may look kind, she is rather apathetic towards criminals and shows bias -getting Damon electrocuted. She becomes the main suspect because of the free access she has around the offices as well as into Damon's room. She is in charge of Damon's wellbeing. She is married to an accountant and is barren. As a result, she usually fosters children, but has not yet decided on adopting yet.

  Juliette does not like him because he is her husband's drinking budy. He lives on one-night stands and his language is foul. She feels that he is a bad influence on his husband and she finds it hard to trust her husband when he is with John. He is very daring and rather rich. He is charming and sometimes tries chatting Juliette up, but she just pushes him away. Despite his personality, he cares deeply for Horatio and envies him in a way, because it is his dream to finally be able to settle down as well one day.

  He is a deceased character who is hardly ever mentioned in the book, but is a very significant character. He is the main reason why Damon is the way he is. Fredrick is the lover of Father Augustine and he left his wife and son after Damon walked in on the two of them having intercourse. Damon made a promise to Father Augustine, blaming him and not his own father. This is because at some point, Fredrick truly loved his wife and Damon knew this. When his wife commits suicide in front of Damon, Damon makes the same promise to her as well. Fre*** is far from being a religious man, he uses his position to make him less of a suspect.

  He is a very cheerful man. He is respected by everyone in the convert and Cathedral. Father Augustine goes away to help others in need. He does his duties properly and everyone sees no fault in him. This is not the same with Damon who sees him as he is, a homewrecker. Father Augustine had an affair with the wanted criminal, Fredrick Scarlett, who also happened to be Damon's dad. When their secret was no longer a secret, after Damon walking in on the two, Father Augustine persisted that Fredrick left his family if he truly loved him, which Fredrick did. Damon never forgave Father Augustine, because soon after, his mother (whom he loved so dearly) commited suicide.

  Sharisse Muerte

  She is Damon's right-hand 'man' and the only woman he has ever trusted. Sharisse helped Damon out when she found him hurt in her abandoned house. She provided him with food, clothing and other necessary essentials -she stole since she was orphaned. A gang of delinquents tried to gain ownership of the house, but Sharisse took them all out. As a result, Damon decided to mentor her and keep her by his side because of her skills. She became a skilled fighter, driver and knows how to handle a gun. Her medical knowledge is impressive and she is capable of creating powerful bombs (like the ones that took out the convert). She works as a secretary at Gahanna Mental Institution and is Dashique's eternal rival. Her personality is confusing. It cannot be summed up by a few words.
