Her parents divorced at the age of 7 right after her younger sister Macie Hamilton turned 3. Her mother four years after had died in a very fatal car crash leaving her and Macie and older brother Jack Hamilton(12) to live with her father who was turning into an alcoholic. Their father had passed away from drinking himself to death after many years of the horrible habit. Leaving Jewel, Macie and Jack to live with a close family relative; their strict Aunt Bethany and Uncle Robert Hamilton. At the age of 14, Jewel begins to realize she has a very unique but strange gift. She can read minds if she stares at a person long enough and she can make objects move by staring at them as well. She tries to keep this unique gift to herself throughout school but it’s very difficult and making and keeping friends is very difficult because she knows what they really think about her.
