I think it actually sums up Garrett and Ally's friendship perfectly.

Not happy with Garrett in this one at all.

First off -the whole leaving Allison to watch and take care of his little sister while he's out at breakfast. I get it that they're best friends and all, but really now? Really? I know that they'd likely drop anything for the other, but suppose Allison did have plans?

And then the going out for breakfast with Jenny. I don't like that. What happened to the whole lovey thing he had going on with Ally? I'm not liking where I think this Jenny thing is going. New girlfriend, perhaps? If it were after ten, and Garrett had at least told Ally he was going out (even if he didn't specify where), I think I'd feel a little less nervous about the situation.

And that leads me to the previous night, when Garrett was really out of it. Was it because of his parents being at his grandmothers (something's wrong, maybe?), or because he knew he was going out with Jenny, and he wasn't sure how he (or Ally) felt about it.

Interesting. Very interesting.

II think the fact that garrett out with someone else before 10 is why you feel uneasy. you should just fix that right up! :D

Okay, so that was really long so I'm going to start a new comment for chapters 10-11.

First, I'd like to say that I'm glad that Garrett realizes that he's extremely lucky to be friends with Allison...and that their brief not-talking phase made him see that he shouldn't just assume they'd be best friends forever, because that's not necessarily the case. Again, it's just my opinion, but I think part of what she didn't like about going to Jenny's party was because she was afraid that Garrett would leave her, or find some other girl. This is sorta backed up in chapter 11 when she's afraid of his reaction to her getting accepted to college...she doesn't want him to be mad and decide he can find someone else to replace her once she's gone, or even before she leaves. It's almost like she's afraid of what he'll think of her after he knows.

Alright, so the sleeping pills. The ones she gave him in the last chapter are the same ones as when he gets drunk after the hospital visit? He's also ~obviously~ not feeling himself, which is making me wonder why, exactly that is. Based on the fact Ally never takes her pills home the next day leads me to believe that whatever The Incident is, it's coming up rather quickly, because Ally specifically says that she'd retrieve the pills the next day. Maybe at the party?

Anyways, I'm loving all of the updates I missed, and I'm really excited for the next chapter, and very curious as to why Garrett doesn't seem to like Roxie/me. Keep up the good work!

Duuude, I haven't been getting emails for this at all! I'm only on chapter four, but I was like, "hey, this hasn't been updated in forever!" and I checked, and yeah...It's past chapter four now .

Anyways...gonna attempt a massive comment to make up for the previous lack-of.

I really, really love how you've started the story in the present, with Ally already in the coma, and Garrett in trouble with Halvo, even though we only know that Garrett did something, but not the specifics. I also really like how you're taking the time to develop each character and not rushing to get to the next part of the story and just throwing them in without...background information, for lack of a better word. It's clear that Garrett really depends on and loves (at least as a friend; if not more) Allison, which you've made clear in the way that Garrett will drop anything to spend time with her, and he's so concerned about not hurting Allison's feelings, because he knows how insecure she is. He's also willing to spend the day with Roxie/me, who he obviously doesn't like and/or can't stand the slightest, assuming it's what Allison wants to do.

His devotion to her, even once she's in the coma and he's clearly not welcome to visit her, is so adorable! He's willing to go that extra mile just to see her, even after he's done something that's clearly hurt her, because he cares that much and is very protective. Like in chapter six, when the host is checking Ally out, and he's disgusted by it. He's protective, partly because I think he's jealous. Like...he doesn't want that guy to check her out because he wants to keep Ally to himself. even though she doesn't see it like that. It's almost like Garrett doesn't know when to shut his mouth, because even though what he says isn't meant as derogatory towards Allison, she tends to take it that way and then worry about it.

I also noticed that at the end of chapter seven, Ally says that Garrett is entitled to his own thoughts and opinons, which from what we know of her so far, seems very unlike Ally. So does the fact that she's made other plans on a friday, which apparently don't include Garrett. This makes me wonder...was the diner the beggining of whatever Garrett apparently did to Ally? What actually surprised me the most was Eric -it was clear that he didn't really approve of Garret before what I'm now calling The Incident, so when he encourages Ally to make up with Garrett I was like, "wait...what?" But I think that goes back to them being so interdependent on each other, and that they make it very clear that that's what's happening, and everyone realizes it whether they approve or not.

ahhhhhh. you think it's crap but I think it's great. I loved it.
Little Emma's so cute. And it's all calm until you see garrett. and then without a fuss it ends and it's so cute.
