Oh, wow. I don't even know what else to say. I just caught up on the last, oh, zillion or so chapters and what a ride! From the highs of the concert and the party to the amazingly breathless sex on the beach to... this. I feel like a kid at Six Flags that went on the roller coaster one too many times after eating a big chili dog. Giddy and breathless with excitement, but about to throw up at the same time. And I mean all of that in the most complementary way possible. :)
Poor Frankie! His story is even more tragic than I had imagined. It certainly explains a lot about his character. I know he'll get through it, though. Now that he's found his Gee.
Poor Gerard! I can't even imagine how painful it would be to hear a story like that from someone you love. He's got to be wanting to kill right now. I understand him needing to go outside and scream, but he really needs to hurry back before Frankie feels too abandoned.
I think the hardest part for Gerard is that it happened incremenally for Frank, building up slowly but surely. It's not like one day he was a normal kid and the next day he was a whore who dissociated and self-mutilated to get through it. It happened slowly. Gerard, on the other hand, got the whole thing in one big chunk. *shiver* Obviously, Frank had to live it and that's worse than just hearing about it, but it's got to be messing with Gerard's brain right now, big time.
Oh, and since I know I haven't mentioned it lately, I Love your stories, Lizzie.
Now, I could do a very long review about the story and some of my opinions on the characters, but I just feel that I can't do it properly. It wouldn't be fair for such an amazing and complete story. You include here several characters, and they're all so mind-blowingly explained and described throughout the whole story, that I could never do a realistic review. It just wouldn't be enough, and you shall be proud of me saying this *giggle*
I guess I should try and analyze a bit of the main characters, though. Frank and Gerard are clearly an awesome pairing to write about, as in real life they are such amazing, undescribable and unique people, who we can shape into an endless amount of characters because they're just flexible and in fond of variety like that. That's what I love about Frerards; no matter what we do with the characters, they always relate to the real Frank and Gerard in some way. And the better a Frerard writer is, the closer those characters are to reality. You're really one of the greatest...
In my opinion, Gerard is the main character here, not because he is the saviour, but because he himself has been through some bad things in his life, yet he can be so altruistic that he cares only about Frank and getting him rid of his past. I especially adore how he truly and fearlessly professes his love for Frank through his words, but mainly through his actions. He might have acted some times in secret, but it was everything for Frank's sake, and that's such a beautiful way of loving someone
I feel like Gerard forgets about everything else when he is with Frank, professing and expressing his love, more than he can tell us about. He just doesn't care about what he gets in return, as long as he can see Frank's smile and eyes fulfilled with love. I love him and find in this Gerard of yours one of the most beautiful and meaningful heroes we can every find in real life. Because I sense that, somewhere out there, there are people like this character... and it makes me smile; does it make you smile, Lizzy?! =]
Frank is, though, one of the most broken characters I've ever read about. His story is a dreadful one, but the worst part of it is what it made him become. He's just so helpless and fearful about everything in his life. He gladly trusts in Gerard his soul and his essence, and he does it the best he can, with all those shadows from the past haunting him from times to times. That's what makes him a beautiful character in my opinion... He has been through so much, yet he can forget about it by simply accepting a kiss from Gerard. I love how he gives so much importance when Gerard brushes his lips against Frank's, just because that's a proof of how much Frank and Gerard love each other in a very simple and reasonable way. They respect each other and they do what they have to do together in order to see the love of their lives smile and be happy with them.
This is the magic of Eyelash Wishes; we can make them as beautiful as we can, and when they come true, they're everything we can think about. Frank and Gerard, in this story, are beautiful, happy, in love and believable as true eyelash wishes. I love it.
Now, reading the last chapters, it made me realize that Frank's past might be coming up to haunt him again very soon. We knew, at some point of the story (in the beginning, if I remember correctly), that Davey finds where Linda lives, and no matter how much Frank told him that he hates his parents, Davey must be smarter than that... smarter than the story makes us think. When Linda and Frank were together for the last time, after that amazing gig, Linda told his son to go visit her once in a while, to make her happy and see her smile; I weirdly sense that Frank is gonna be caught in one of those occasions. I don't want him to be, but if you made Frank tell Gerard about some parts of his past, it surely means that it must not be forgotten because our past can haunt us at some point in our life. I don't Frank to be through that fear again, but I have an idea that it will happen eventually. Poor Frank, and poor Gerard, because no matter how much he truly loves Frank and what he might do when it happens, it might not be enough to save his boyfriend. I wonder if Frank would give himself up to the fear that Davey has always made him feel...
Concluding, I can only say that this story was definitely worth my reading. I loved it in all its glory, in all characters' glory, because they are so complex yet easily understood. I like how you made the brothers be in the girls' life for so long, and how it still messes up with their relationship. I just love this story, every single detail about it. I couldn't find any major flaws so far; that's how much I want you to keep updating and want me to keep reading it
