Bus - Comments

  • honestly, I can't believe I never commented on this story before. I love reading this just for its sheer simplicity (and I mean that in the best way possible!) like it's just such a straightforward storyline about a bus driver who hates his job. that's it. that's the entire story. but there's so much MORE than that, and it deals with his regrets and his repressed memories, and his negligence of everyone and everything else in the world and the fact that he may just have a teeny tiny piece of compassion hidden in him somewhere. and I absolutely love that.

my favorite part about this story is that you've taken such an overlooked part of everyday life and made it into something worth reading about. like I really want to see this become a movie or something. I love how the bus drivers all have their own little clique together and lingo that they gossip with each other about, and how the kids interact with Doug and mess around and pretty much ruin his life on a daily basis. and Doug's internal monologue is the best. everything about this story is the best., though, if I'm being honest.

  • Woot woot comment swap~!

I love this. Doug makes me laugh, and you capture that "bratty middle schooled" tone so well. I try to give constructive criticism in comment swaps, but I'm too busy laughing. Wonderful writing, and great banner. A+ on all fronts.

  • Wow! This is very well written. I never would have thought I'd enjoy a story about a bus but you have made this very interesting. It stirs up many different emotions. You've explained what I would imagine a bus driver's life would be like very well. I've only read the first 10 chapters so far (my eyes can only handle so much at once on my small phone screen), but I'm hooked. You can thank the many other comments for peaking my interest enough to begin reading this. Now I want to read it to it's end. It makes me feel even more pity for bus drivers than I did before. And yes, I pity the teachers out there too. Especially as mean as kids are today and all the laws protecting them from nearly all punishments. Great work! Your writing style really is unique.

  • I think this story is fabulous and really well written. It's really good about having just enough detail and being true to real life. It's very unique, too. Which I'm sure you're more than aware of, heh. I like how it isn't just another teen love story, and the protagonist's progression into a job he hates wasn't just "I couldn't find anything better."

All in all, great job! I enjoyed reading this!

  • I just finished the story, I actually liked it a lot. It's funny but then kind of tragic when Doug goes into his past. Good job!

  • This story is fabulous. c:
I've read through it all and the characters and storyline seem very real and original (I love Hector). I like how every now and then we get a taste of Doug's life before becoming a bus driver.
Do you think you'll update anytime soon...?

  • I really enjoyed reading this story, it's different than any other story that I have read. Which makes me happy that story swap has brought me here. I didn't notice any spelling or grammar mistakes, and I could continue reading without any problems. Good job so far :)

  • I've really enjoyed this so far! It's very unique; something like I have never read before or even planned on reading. I guess that's why I love the comment swap feature, it gets me reading stories I wouldn't have normally read. In this case, I'm really glad that it directed me to your story! It's very refreshing to read something like this. It definitely makes me think about the times when I used to be in school and how crudely the bus drivers were treated by most students. And, like sugoi said, I always made sure to treat them with respect too. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that your story really brings back memories. As for your spelling and grammar, I didn't happen to notice any mistakes. So great job there. I actually really like your writing style. It's very easy to follow along, and I didn't find any of it confusing. Also, I really like your main character. He's not like any other characters I've read about so far - very unique! Anyway, I think you've done a great job here! Keep it up!

  • This is such an original idea! Honestly, I've never seen anything like it before. I quite liked how the protagonist is so melancholy about his job as a bus driver. The way he spoke to the kids seemed really realistic. I liked the dialogue a lot. :] The ending of the first chapter made me a little sad, though. That drawing wasn't nice at all. /:

  • Hello! I found your story on comment swap and heres what I think: First of all, this is without a doubt the most original story I have found on this website do far. I'm not done reading so far but I'm almost positive there will be no fanfic/supernatural romance, etc. This is a fun story, I would just recommend you develop the plot more in any other future storied you work on. Its hard at first but simple when you break it down as a long term problem the character is facing. Good luck in your writing, and check out my stuff? Thanks!

  • I just had to crack up when I started reading this. I work at a high school, and my mother actually worked in the transportation department for a school for a long time. So, I know exactly how Mr. Doug is feeling.

I really like his character, by the way. He's very sardonic and yet he still cares (sort of) about the kids. I liked when he talked to Amy about her relationship.

This story idea is really unique and quirky and funny. I enjoyed it. Keep up the good work!

  • I think that this idea is very cute especially because no one would ever write a story from the bus drivers point of view. I think it flowed well. I'd also like to mention the same thing as writing out numbers. Otherwise, not too many grammatical errors.
