I like this development. While this could be an excuse for Ryan to worry his pretty head off about Brenny, it's also a serious school function thing that'll hopefully reveal a few things about Brendon's past and abilities as well as information on the other mutant schools, since this is a whole new world for Ry.
Ross's confession earlier in the chapter while he was in no-nonsense-I-love-this-guy mode was sweeeet. "the way his glasses slide down on his nose" was a particularly good one, I thought, because we love Urie's little quirks; his ADHD, his funky dance moves, his back-flipping and skateboarding awesomeness, his famous self-proclaimed apple butt... etc. (sidenote: did you know, Brendon is right-handed but he skateboards in the lefty position? Weird, huh?) So, kudos, that was very nice.

This may sound odd, but I feel like Gerard is... missing something? I dunno, I just don't connect with him as well as with the others. I know the story's not a Frerard, but slipping in a tinyyy conversation about how Fred noticed Gerard (or vice versa) in the first place might help a little bit with the reader-character relationship, I think. But it's totes your call, 'cos it won't matter much if Gerard and Frank aren't all that present in later chapters.

Looking forward to the fight scene, I'm gonna set my itunes to some crazy Atreyu song or something to up the epicness of it. I find action scenes super hard to write, but so far you've been fantastic with them (*ahem* a certain brown-eyed boy falling into a pool, for example...) so I'm not worried at all.
I await, with bated breath, the next installment. Until then, m'lady, salaam.

Anyway. Ross getting better at telepathy was BRILLIANT. I like when he shows Brendon he's not the only badass at school, even just a little bit. I figgered their first snog would be super dramatic, energy-wise, with the whole collision of telepathy and telekinesis powers and all that, yknow?
