First off, as much as I hate to start off with the negative, I have to admit that disclaimers in stories irk me. They're not required on Mibba (the only site I've seen them required on is LiveJournal), and because this is labeled as fanfiction, I can assume that any characters I recognize are not yours.

Once more, I find myself being completely lost because I'm not familiar with the fandom. This is just a suggestion, but if you're going to expose your fanfics to people outside the fandom, you should probably find a way to incorporate more backstory, clarification, and physical description of the characters. I also feel like the transitions could be a lot more smoother as opposed to just writing "hospital," "fair grounds," etc, and I didn't really get much of a visualization of these various settings because of that.

That being said, I did enjoy reading the first chapter. I loved that the characters weren't stereotypical, that they were rough around the edges without going overboard and making them laughable. I also really enjoyed the premise of the story and that this focused more on family dynamics and issues as opposed to just purely romance.
