yeah, she can't just live in the US just because she wants to. She's not a citizen. She can't get a work visa working fast food or doing office work - employers have to both sponsor a worker and prove that a U.S. citizen cannot do the same work, generally, to even get a visa. So in general, as a 16 year old without a high school diploma who is not going to school won't be able to get a visa to stay in the U.S. To even be at SSM, she needs to have and keep a student visa. if she drops out, she's only got so much time before she's got to go back to Canada (6 months without a visa, I think, but there may be issues if she has a student visa and lets it expire). Basically, as a tourist, she can stay 6 months. Then she needs to go home. How long she needs to stay in Canada before she comes back is another good question. And then there's the matter of finances - how is she planning on financing an indefinite stay? She can't work legally. She doesn't have a diploma or GED. Claude so far isn't giving her anything. Does she really think her parents and brother won't notice she's no longer in school? Really? If she's not the Canadian version of an emancipated minor (if there is one), she's only in the U.S. by their permission. And how the hell does she expect to get medical care in the US for her pregnancy? How would she pay for it? I imagine that Canadian students studying in the u.s. go back to Canada for medical care or have to purchase health insurance for care here.

All around, IMO Taylor is going to have to go home. To Canada, if not to her parents. She can't legally stay as things stand. She can't stay through the end of her pregnancy unless she stays at school as long as she can. And past the birth, unless she's still a student she still has that 6 month tourist visa issue. While the baby will be a U.S. citizen if and only if it's born in the U.S., having a child who is a citizen does not grant the foreign parent of that child any magical 'stay in the U.S. legally' factor. Basically she needs a sponsor. Work, student, or family, she needs a good reason to be here to be here legally and 'I'm a teenage pregnant drop out' isn't one of them. Now, I know that pro hockey wives and children of hockey players of course can and do get visas. I suspect that hockey girlfriends are encouraged to go to school in the U.S. or marry their athlete if they want to stay with him here. I don't think that Sid could get her a visa; he's not a u.s citizen and she's not his spouse/child. She could find a U.S. citizen or non-citizen person with a valid visa to marry but she'd need a spouse.

anyway, these are issues that might come up if you want to stay true to reality. Alternately, you can hand-wave the illegal alien thing away since this is fiction, but personally, I'd note that I'd done so in an author's note since pedants like myself are out there, lying in wait to pounce on discrepancies and deviations from reality...

:o i NEVER ACTUALLY THOUGHT ABOUT THAT!! :D draama. tay could get deported. Where I live, 600 is rent in a good place :D we pay 750 for ours and it's a decent place. As for your question about why Tay is where she is, I don't know, I never actually thought about it. Well, she got preg so she left SSM and I researched and found out that's actually where she is And she is 16, her and Sid have an 8year age gap, my bro and I have a 6 year age gap :D It's hard to answer your questions, I hope you dont find me rude for this.

How in the world is she even in the country? She being Taylor. She's a Canadian citizen. She probably has a visa for schooling but I think those are school-specific (I could be wrong). And if she'd staying in Pittsburgh, is she even in school? SSM is not anywhere near Pittsburgh! If she's 16, she's still in high school, not college. I'm so confused. Is she 18 in this fic? If she's not in school, she can only be in-country for so long on a tourist visa. And to get a working visa, that's loads of paperwork from the employer, too. So she'd have to be in school to stay in the country.

Also, $600 a month is diiiiiirt cheap rent. Seriously dirt-cheap. Possibly unrealistically dirt cheap.

Well, on the plus side, at least Emily is not with Claude anymore? Taylor, go after him for child support, at least! With your kid's genetics, hockey gear is going to be a must and apparently that shit is expensive. Plus, you know, kids are gadawful expensive.
