All Tomorrow's Parties - Comments

I've got nothing to criticize from what I've read here. Your writing is upbeat and a lot of fun to read! It seems like you've got a really good handle on dialogue and using it to set the stage for your characters' personalities and relationships, and that's a really important part of writing (in my opinion, at least). I look forward to seeing where this story goes!

  • I'm going to be obnoxious and re post part of my comment because comment swap didn't register it the first time:

I just want to say, first of all, that the dynamic between Bex and Jamie is fantastic :) And, I'm not going to lie, super funny. "Get in line, sister. Manuel, Chang, and Luigi are already vying for my affection after the massive tips I just gave them." Love it!

(I still love it, even if this is just a repost of the same comment :P)

This looks like it's going to be a very interesting story. I like your writing style, you definately put a lot of voice into it, and it makes it interesting. My only suggestion would be in your summary. Having rhetorical, foreshadowing questions in a summary can make it seems a little cliche. I think the way you used them is fine, but that last little bit, "Stay tuned to find out," seemed sort of over the top for me. But hey, that's just me. The story itself is awesome, so keep it up! :)

  • Dear author, the comment swap thingy brought me here, otherwise I wouldn't have picked something like this to read. It just isn't my cup of tea story, sorry. The summary didn't pull me in at all but I found the first chapter to be a bit of interesting. Be careful while developing your characters. :) That's all from me so bye. :) ~Marian.

  • So first of all, that last line of the summary "Will New York eat them alive?" or something similar to that, it was brilliant. I actually giggled a bit when I read that line. It was an awesome way to end the summary. Now on to the story, I really love it. The characters, the descriptions of New York, the writing style. It fills me with this sense of happiness and fresh discovery that I absolutely cannot get enough of. I really appreciate each of the characters you guys have created. They're both really likable and incredibly adorable. But, I have a feeling that Bex is more edgier than Jamie, I don't know why I have that feeling. She just seemed less "happy-go-luck" like Jamie came off to me. I honestly cannot wait to see where you guys are heading with this story because right now it can go anywhere, from a murder story to a romantic one. Keep up the great writing!

  • I didn't think this was boring at all! Sometimes you need the slow build up before you get into the excitement, and this way we get a better feel for the characters first! I can already tell this is going to shape up to be a really fun story!

It's not everyday I get a story from the bag of mysteries (when it's working :/ ) that I actually really do care to read more of. Being a unique experience I'm really excited to read more, as I've subscribed and recommended. I'm honestly in love with this, it's perfect and that is something not many authours hear me saying let me tell you. I think the layout fits the story well. Your writing styles are amazing, flows nicely, I love yours use of language and description. Haven't found spelling or grammar errors and thats the icing on the cake. Well done, please update soon I shall be eyeing off my emails for now on :)

Thank you for saying so! I really appreciate that. I actually had someone say something I wrote was boring because it wasn't super over the top so I felt I had to say it before someone else did. Lol.

  • You put in the author comment that it isn't as dramatic as some people like, but I think chick lit is good for the soul every now and then. Your characters are super adorable and fun. They're pretty infectious.

  • Out of all your stories, this one is my personal favourite. There is so much life in it. Will definitely want to see where you take this, you have my subscription.

I'm going to comment as I read,

I love the way this starts out with such excitement. I totally feel Jamie because when I went to New York after a few years, I just could not tear my eyes away from the city. I really love the way you write. I'm absolutely adoring almost all of your stories. There are a few mistakes here and there, but a quick proofread will fix it. Good luck on this, Jac!
