Don't Give Up (On Me) - Comments

I'M FREAKING OUT BECAUSE OF THIS CHAPTER AND BECAUSE YOU MENTIONED MY BLOG!

Oh My Gosh.The minute I saw that Family was the title I was seriously freaking out.
I knew it would all come out, but for him to react that way is just plain crazy, I feel so bad for Lei. She just had a big day and then John has to go and pull this, and I was feeling bad for him earlier because of Caleb being there and what she said to him. Then damn he goes off on her and I just want to give her a hug. I cant wait for the next chapter I am really interested to know what they both will do after the incident.
Again though I really enjoyed it and I hope that they get their happy ending they deserve after all the crap they have went through together. I would saw no to a sequel, i like epilogues better, just so I know that they live happily ever after. :)

I was reading through the comments and I 100% agree with everything @ everdeen said-- no more chances, Leighton needs to leave and John needs rehab. If she doesn't get out one of these outbursts will literally kill her. I also agree with the sequel thing-- if this ended with John going to rehab (maybe the last chapter is the intervention), the sequel could be John getting through rehab while Leighton got her life back together, and then they could work on the two of them after he got out. I know I talked a lot about sequel and rehab things in my last novel of a comment (which I'm glad you liked, btw), so I won't repeat it all again, but I still wholeheartedly agree with what I wrote/theorized before.

I'm also interested in seeing why John is so weird about his family-- like it seems to mostly be in his head, but what triggered it, y'know? Especially because it makes him so violent, it's really intriguing. ALSO YOU'RE WRITING CHAPTER 28 WHICH MEANS YOU HAVE CHAPTER 27 DONE OH MAN I WANNA READ IT SO BADLYYYYYYY.

Sorry this comment is so short, I'm sick right now so my brain isn't firing on all cylinders, so to speak :( But it was amazing as always, and I can't wait to find out what comes next!

the family thing will probably come out in chapter 28, or it'll be obvious from there. the whole thing with that is pretty onesided and on John's behalf- you'll see what I mean after THE chapter is posted x

In regards to the latter comment, I'd say that 'big betrayal' from his family is more in his head, because obviously, they do love him and it's his condition taking over, making him think these certain things, y'know?
And yes in the next chapter the whole 'Leighton and Caleb' thing goes down but never without a fight of course. I'm also stuck on the last few chapters, and not sure whether or not John and Leighton will stay together, so I know as much as you guys do aha

Okay SO (sorry I didnt want my phone dying on me after I'd written all that)When I saw this chapter was called "Family" I thought we'd finally get to find out what the big betrayal was and all would be revealed. But then I remembered that Lei has been seeing them without John knowing so I just went "OHGODOHGODOHGOD" when he realized the truth. I was terrified what he was going to do to her. I was scared for her life; im just glad he was smart enough to pull over. But UGH VIOLENT JOHN YUCKY I HATE HIM I HATE HIM SO MUCH. I really wish - and was hoping - that we wouldn't see this side of him anymore. hoping that in the next chapter John realizes the whole Leighton and Caleb thing is just in his head and that he apologizes for this. He better spoilt the SHIT outta her (not that it would fix anything at this point).
Pleas please PLEASE tell me Leighton leaves him. As much as I like them together and want them to be happy and in a relationship, I just dont think that they can BE happy while in THIS relationship. And YES GOD A SEQUEL Im not sure what i would want it would be yet since i have no clue hoe this will end but PLEASE WRITE A SEQUEL I NEED MORE

Well this was a HEAP of stuff to take in. Im just gonna get to the big/important stuff. First of all, I WANTED TO SHAKE JOHN SO BAD FOR SNEAKING IN SOME ALCOHOL. LIKE SERIOUSLY?! Yeah, okay, easier said than done, but you're really gonna go around hiding it and keeping that from Lei? He promised her and as usual, he continues to break his promises. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for him thinking there's something going on between her and Caleb, but that's it. Also, thinking negatively is only going to make things worse and that's exactly what he's doing. He's bringing HIMSELF down and im really starting to think that this is gonna end...not so well :(
On a lighter note, YAY FOR LEI! Im so proud of her and it's amazing that you can make me feel proud of a fictional character but I am lol. She definitely deserves it for all the hard work she's done.

Sorry, I forgot to answer:
If there's a sequel (yes please Lord), I think it would be interesting to see John in rehab preparing himself to get out while Lei is surving and trying to put some sense in her life, then we would see their relationship being rebuilt (no one can live all of this drama and just forget about it, of course scars were left - no pun intended).

I will take this opportunity to suggest to add the "Of course it was an engagement ring" thing to John's paranoia now or hold it to the sequel, like one insecurity he couldn't leave behind/confess to Lei.

This chapter was great! Holy shit! It was so nerve wracking at the end. My friends have gotten me hooked on this story and it's so wonderfully written. Wow.

jesus christ, i was so scared at the end of this chapter, i thought john was going to kill leighton! and why the hell can't john see that this 'caleb-leighton' thing only exist in his mind?!
john and lei's relationship is a really sick and completely unhealthy relationship, but for some weird reason, i still want them to be together and happy!

I love John, and it pains me to see what he's going through, but it also pains me to see what Leighton is going through because of him. I know it's tough for her to leave because of what John has to deal with, but if things don't get better, I think that's her only option. I just want to know what happened between him and his family.

Wow... I never thought I would say this, but it's time for Lei to leave. John is clearly an alcoholic and he can't do this "alone" anymore, or he goes to rehab or he goes down. His paranoia and lack of control got to a point where he needs an intervention, no more chances. When he gets better they can start over again and the U2 couple ("I can't live with or without you") can be happy and together. I'm still so shocked... I can't imagine what happened in his family that made him feel this way. His behavior of yelling at her and them hugging her is so fucked up... Omg... I'm speechless. Congrats on your writing, again.
