Hairy would continue to provide love, support and her point of view as a member of the Crosby family. I think the addition of Mellow the yellow lab and Tater (of trouble ) would provide Hairy her own pack.
I know a Jack Russell who embodies Tater. He's high energy and game to play. He is a brat and needs positive direction. I'm sure Hairy would work at keeping Tater on the straight and narrow. I did think about giving Hairy mention in the Epilogue but I just couldn't. She wouldn't have lived that long. I was sad enough with Morty's passing. Honestly, I must have wrote Morty's hospital scene a dozen times. I cried each time. I could not let Hairy go.
In my mind the dogs would in time be replaced by Whimzy, Spud and Happy ( another yellow lab). I might be finished this story but am struggling letting my characters go. I like Fleury. But her story would be a good 20 years from now. I'm finding that hard to imagine. I am toying with a Biz and Lego story line. A friend wants me to write a Taylor succombing to the Hylkema Handsome. Sid, Tylyn and Hairy would be supporting voices in both of these storylines.
Thank you very much for your comments. I've truly appreciated them. I loved writing Hairy.
Oh, I love the idea of Taylor going back to the farm to work for the summer and dealing with Tylyn's cousins!
And I like Fleury too - she definitely is her mother's daughter.
And I am glad that Hairy had a good long life - I loved his point of view in the story.
