From the get go, this story is so, so good. Honestly, the characters are so vivid in my mind. I have quite a dark, dry sense of humour which I get a sense for in this story.

"Which was a lie, sort of." - this was so funny to me.

I definitely get the sense that Emma is far further from recovery than Davis, but I'm not sure if that's just my perspective or what you were going for. I'm only on chapter five, so my opinion on that could change drastically at some future point.

I loved the connection between the repetition of ran/run in chapters five and six. That was brilliant on your part.In fact, all these connections between the various chapters are perfect. Every word feels slotted perfectly into place, and I'm really enjoying reading this.

The heartbreak is coming. I can feel it.

The letter is so amazing. And I love that you left this hope up in the air. Hope that Emma can/will get better. I don't know if you decided whether or not she did get better, but I'm going to pretend she did because it's just a nice thought.

I really love this story. Really, really.

I've just found this story and it was breathtaking. It was so beautifully written, especially Davis' letter at the end. I'm glad I came across this. I'm currently about to go stalk your other stories.

Sorry for being so behind on contest prizes! Procrastination!

The imagery here is killing me.

The human body consists of bones and organs and flesh and skin, but I would like to think that I am made up of stardust, because it sounds lovely and it seems magical and I think that everybody wishes they were made up of something beautiful
This is the truest thing ever. I absolutely love how it started out, and how close to home it can hit for so many people: a want to be beautiful somehow, but a knowledge that life is rough and the closer reality is that

I am probably made up of the old grey ashes we left in the fire pit three weeks ago.
The short chapters are awesome. I love short chapters, especially when they're well-conducted and make sense for their shortness.
    Quote
I saw someone new at the therapist's office today. He was tall, but he wasn't gaunt and he had knuckles covered in dry blood and I wondered if they tasted the same way that my mouth did when I bit my cheek too hard. He had freckles on his face and I connected them in my head and realized that they were in the same shape as a constellation, and I wondered if he was as brave as a lion.
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. This paragraph is so absolutely great, so random and confused but so great and curious and clever, and it really adds to the reader's thoughts on the main character: a wishful thinker, or just a lost mind?

Davis' character is pretty great from what I've seen of him. He's mad, he's crude, he wants to hit something, but I haven't even finished yet and something tells me he'll be a wonderful character in the long run. (Pissy angry guys make for awesome character development.)

Thank you again for your entry! Arms

This is beautiful. It all flows together, and transports you into a magical airy kind of state of mind. It all seems so simple and all complicated at once, if that makes sense? It's tragic, and then it's beautiful. I did like Davis, I did, until the last chapter, he's using Emma when she cares for him, but I can't not like Davis. It's impossible, both these kids are screwed up but you make it come across beautiful while still reminding us that they're screwed up but you don't have to say it, does that make sense? Everything about this is lovely, and it has some really sweet parts. Like Davis remembering Emma's favourite colour even though her mum can't. This is wonderful.

I like how you can tell so much with so little words. I'm a big fan of Bon Iver and I love this.

So in love with this story. The one thing I'm not loving after that last chapter though is Davis. He's playing with Emma's emotions and he's going to hurt her.

I love how your writing doesn't have to be long to be poetically beautiful and mean something. It's so genuine and raw

Bon Iver drew me in and your beautiful expression kept me there!
I've just read the first couple of chapters and it pains me to have to wait until I get home from work to keep reading!

this is AMAZING!! It is so easy to read yet it has a meaning that you have to think about. It has been a while since I have read something that, although the chapters are short, packs so much power. I must say, this has rendered me speechless.

I love love love how you’re able to make short chapters pack a hell of a punch. I’ve been sunken into this story because you have a way with words and a way of conveying emotion through Davis and Emma, and I have a wonderful feeling that this is going to blossom into something beautiful and tragic at the same time. There’s something distinctly melancholy about the way you’ve written this, and to me, it’s beautiful. Keep up the awesomeness!

Like a few others, I was drawn into this story because it was based off of a Bon Iver song. I've always liked the concept of Skinny Love being about something way more than most think it is about, so the fact that you've used it as a basis makes me super-excited.

I've never been overly-enthusiastic of stories that have really short drabble-like chapters because they can sometimes lack depth, but there's nothing of the sort here. Your chapters are filled with beautiful description and both narrators have completely different ways of showing things, but both make really strong characters in their own rights. Emma seems very lost and wandering, she's got this really poetic way of wording everything and it all seems so very delicate (much like the image of her I have painted in my head from the information you've given us about her trips to the therapist) and Davis seems more blunt and harsh, but still has that soft edge to his voice. Again, I imagine him to be much like the reason he's at the therapist. I think it's really clever that you've painted them both in that way and made it so much more believable as to why they are where they are. That probably doesn't make much sense, but I'm struggling to find a way to explain how interesting that is to me.

I'm really stoked to see where you take this story. It seems like it's going to blossom into something amazing. Keep up the good work! Cute
