I loved this, its great! ^_^ I like Nick and how he doesn't judge Eli like everyone else does. I have been doing sign language for years as I was growing up, Eli and I could be sign language buddies! xD He sounds like a nice person to be around.

Aww thank you! I'm so glad you liked it! I worked extremely hard just so I could read comments like that! I'm sorry to hear that you were in the same position as my friend Eli. But, I'm sure you're an awesome person! Don't let anyone change your personality, okay? :)

    Hello ~ :)

I have to say this right off the bat: I absolutely adored this story. Not often do I read a true story and actually, that drew me right in. It was a wonderful piece of work.

First off, the summary immediately got me in. Eli seems like a very wonderful person and I very much enjoyed his character. As I kept reading the first chapter of how he was a loner and so nervous to start a fresh start to a school, I can relate a lot of that to me. I used to be a total loner at times, even an outcast, and people would point their fingers at me as different, just because of my personality. But by the fact that people labeled him different for being deaf made me feel awful for him because nobody deserves that. Deaf people can be quite intelligent and kind and by the looks of it, he's one of those people :)

The character's thoughts were very descriptive to the point where the interaction was spot on perfect for this kind of story. His goal about being happy was a great yet sad goal to achieve because he deserves to be happy, not miserable.

As I kept reading and the Nick character came in, I absolutely fell in love with Nick. His personality was so amazingly detailed and just wonderful. Such a great character in this story. I smiled brightly when he immediately added that he wanted to be Eli's friend. That made me have butterflies.

    Wonderful piece.
    Very nicely done! :)

Hey there~ I'm here as a judge for the Magazine's Doorway of Possibilities contest. Cute

I have to say, reading that this story was based off of a true story really had me interested. There aren't too many true stories on Mibba so it was an interesting change to know that what I'd be reading was true.

I really liked the way you portrayed Eli, he was a very realistic character. To be honest, when I got up to the part where he mentioned the social anxiety, it made me like him even more. The social anxiety bit really resonates with me so it made me feel an attachment to Eli, which is a very good thing. I want to thank you for portraying social anxiety in such a respectful way. Social anxiety is often taken as a joke in writing and it's frustrating, so I'm happy to see an author who has portrayed it in a very real and very respectful way.

I really like the realism of this story. The story is really very sweet, both in a regular way and in a bittersweet way. It gives a good insight into a subject not a lot of people seem to talk about. Deafness is often ignored so I was surprised to see it was the main subject of this story. I was happy to see it though, I'm always happy to see a story that can surprise me.

Overall, your story was very well written and very well done. It was a nice read, you did a good job on it. Well done! ^^
