Glad you're back!

I like how you brought in Amanda's parents right off the bat. That sets up a nice way to bring conflict in later if you choose. I do wonder if something will happen with them...right now they seem benign, but who knows?

I also love how you write. You have great descriptions and your dialogue is true to the ages/characters. Would you be open to a deeper con crit at some point? =)
