So the Night Shades are shape shifters? I guess I wasn't expecting that. I was sort of thinking something more alien.

Excited to read more. The only thing that struck me as a little off was Mr. Husky wearing jeans. How advanced are these people?

First off, love the vibe. Winter, cape, walking through the woods. What's not to love?
Spotted a couple small typos. Nothing earth shattering or really that distracting.
My initial thoughts about the story...
This kind of feels the the movie, The Village.
I'm cool with that. I love that movie.
I'm eager to read more and delve deeper into this tale though.
