Axel should have known that he could talk to her. I know he prefers not to let her see the "bad" side of him, but she obviously accepts him, rough edges and all. As long as he's good to her, nothing else matters.

She definitely needs a pizza and movie night! Those are always good for the soul! Her sketch sounds amazing, and I appreciate her reasoning behind the silhouettes. Art is open to interpretation anyway; might as well let those who see it put themselves in the scenario.

Her dad is a cop, huh? And a K-9 officer at that. Gotta say, those guys are usually my favorite. They all treat their dogs like they're the most precious things ever and I love it

We have a retired state police K-9 named Otto who mostly stays where I work, and almost all of his verbal commands are in German too.

Anways, I'm enjoying this so far. Can't wait to read more!

I'm glad she confronted her dad and that he was honest with her. I can see how that would leave you with lingering resentment, but Brook was right: that has nothing to do with Axel or his family...just his uncle. It's very mature of him to finally get over himself and give Axel a chance for her. Lol. About time he behaves like an adult.

I want to believe her dad has a justifiable reason for disliking the family and isn't just being a dick. I mean, I hate that he's trying to stop her from going where she's actually comfortable and with someone who dulls the pain, but if he knows something about the Garcias that she doesn't...

Hiii Mandy! I just wanted to say that I found this story while lurking on your stories (I still need to catch up on your writing x_x). I've read the first three chapters and I gotta say, this has caught my attention. How Brooklyn is being a bit shy around Cameron is adorable and i'm wondering if she likes him back. Brooklyn is also a great big sister too. And a training a Police Dog to obey commands in a different language? That's actually really smart and cool. It's sad that Brooklyn's mom is in a coma, are we gonna learn what made her sick?

Anyways I'm enjoying this story so far, I hope to read more later (I just woke up so sorry for this somewhat awkward and random review!) You did a great job with this story~!

I'm glad to see Jared being on her side and getting their dad to lay off somewhat. It's good that he seems to understand that she needs a source of comfort, even if that source isn't family.

Her speech was short, to the point, and heartfelt. I personally think those are the best. I don't need all the flowery fancy empty words, just say what you feel, you know? I know she's gonna have a hard time, but I hope she knows she does have a support group, and that she actually lets them be there for her :)
