Just read the whole thing and I LOVE it!
I really love Gerard's character in this...And I cried reading Frankie's letter to his mom; because I had a personal connection to that...But it was brilliantly done.

I also love how Frank and Gerard are getting along so great and gradually getting a lot closer. I can't wait for more.

    Please update soon? ^_^

I am not used to this new story comment layout. ::XD
Sorry that I have not commented sooner, but I’m sure you know the reasons why.
I am so glad you updated this, I really love this story of yours.
Once again, I have to open Word, just so I can write down everything I want to say.

    First Update:
“Have another piece,” he said, traces of laughter still evident in his voice.

My hesitance made him look pointedly at me. “I win if you don’t,” he warned, trademark smile resting right on those cheeky lips of his.

Clearly, Gerard is a very smart chicken and has figured out a way to get Frank to eat. Bravo Gerard. I like his tactic, he knows Frank doesn’t want to be found out and so Frank can’t refuse.

“Well maybe you should eat one more to even it up, mate,” he grinned evilly.

Shit, shouldn’t have said anything. “Fine. But only because of this stupid competition.”

I reached for another piece and ate it tentatively. I was sure my stomach was going to explode sometime soon.

I’m not exactly sure how to word this, I wanted to copy the part about how Frank had counted the amount they ate. It’s hard for me to explain, but, it made it feel more realistic. I could imagine that little brain of his calculating calorie after calorie. I’d like to know how much he panicked after that. But I’m glad that Gerard’s there, because no way is Frank going to try and run off to throw it all back up again. It’s nice to know that it’ll have some time to digest till Frank’s alone.

“I’m just open to all forms of relationships, male or female,”
I like his answer. It makes me think he’s non-conforming to sexual preference types. tehe

“Not enough. You just…get this look on your face like you’re in pain, emotionally. It flashes across your face all the time and you seem so distant sometimes.”
“I don’t want to ruin our night, but tell me,” he pushed, looking sadly sheepish. “You still have some fake façade going on at times. Like I said the first time we played soccer together. Is it because of your mum?”

The things I’ve bolded remind me of Gerard. Seeing as I have come to the conclusion that Gerard is hiding things with his smile which is where the first part bolded comes in. Also the second part, he’s a pretty happy kid, Gerard. But I remember in previous chapters how when he was talking about his mum, he sounded all cheery and stuff even though it was a bad thing. I know the thing about Frank’s mum would have hurt him, so I would have snapped right back with his smile that seems to be his facade.

“I’m really, really sorry,” Gerard finally said, reaching a hand out to me and then withdrawing it before it made contact. “Like, I’m really sorry.”

I could relate to Gerard in this bit here. It reminds me of a time when I was making jokes about why my friend hadn’t come to the mall with us, and he turned around and snapped at me and told me that it was because his grandmother died. I remember how terrible I felt in that moment, and even though Frank and Gerard’s situation is a little different, I totally understand. Not knowing what to say, what to do (which is shown through Gerard’s hand gesture) I understood. I like when I can relate to characters, it just makes them all the more believable.

“No, no. I brought some of my own,” he smiled, “the really buttery kind.”

My stomach turned in its place. “Let’s go get it then.”

I’m pretty sure that Gerard had planned all this out before he came to Frank’s. Clever.

“We don’t use the microwave much so I never plugged it in.”
If I were Gerard, I would have questioned this.
Could I notice his smile or laugh anymore?

This sentence confused for a while. Seriously, I sat there and stared at it. I thought at first he meant recognizing the difference between when he wasn’t in the fake facade I seem to think he has. But then I realised, it’s because little Frankie is falling in love, and he shouldn’t worry because I could stare at the smile everyday for the rest of my life too. Cute

    Update Two

I sighed and twisted back around so I was lying down again. “I did, Dad. I left three messages on your voicemail because you didn’t pick up. You should check it once in a while.”

    “Oh.”

I want to hit his dad, I want to hit his dad, I want to hit his dad. I hate the moments like these in the story, I hate Frank being neglected.

I focused my senses on his movement and he did as I predicted – at first. But then I had his arms pulling me to him and holding me tightly to his chest. His voice cut through muffled sobs, comforting and strong.

But the best part of the story, is when Frank has someone to care for him after all. ::XD

“Why aren’t you saying anything?” I whispered.

“Sometimes you don’t need to say anything.” He smiled crookedly.

He is so right it’s not funny. I think that just speaking to Frank wasn’t necessary, because I think just knowing that Gerard was there and worried about him, and wanting him to feel better, and paying attention to him was what he needed. So far in this story, Gerard has been the only one to notice that Frank has a problem with eating, and Gerard hasn’t known him for too long. I like it, I think Frank really needs to know that there’s someone there for him.

“I thought your brother was really smart?”

    “He is. He’s the tutor.”

I liked, it made me giggle. tehe

I had to admit that I perved slightly. I didn’t mean to but he was just so…ripped. His torso looked positively chiselled and I knew for a fact that it felt like that too from when he was hugging me before.

No comment. Great visual though. I love you.

Before I could assure him that it was all fine and I didn’t mind, he had placed a small kiss on my lips. Well, I guess you could call it corner of my mouth, but it was still some of my lips.
I’m feeling a strange sense of Déjà Vu with that kiss. Cute I know how those kind of kisses feel, and they’re amazing when you like someone. I like how it’s kind of different. I like thinking that he was nervous and missed. ::XD But, I also think he did it because it was another way of comforting Frank. I think it was telling him he’s really special. Or, maybe I’m just a hopeless romantic.

I could not have hid the massive grin that overtook my face if I wanted to. “Best friend?”

“Yeah. Sorry if that’s coming on too strong for you–”

    “No, no! It’s fine.”

You know how in some cliché fanfics, after they kiss they ask straight away “be my boyfriend”? Yeah, this reminded me of that, but ten times cuter. It kind of sounds like Gerard’s asking Frank out, but he’s not, I don’t know if it’s making any sense, but it had me smiling like crazy.

“How about you leave that and we can do it later? We can go out for brunch or something, maybe even…uh, I don’t know. We’ll find something to do?”

I stared at him for a while, half of me wanting to scream yes and half of me waiting for him to realise he had to go back to the hospital or something.

I take back wanting to hit Frank’s dad now. Well, sort of. He’s still a bit of a jerk for not being there for his son. But maybe he’s realising that he hasn’t been around all that much. Whatever the reason is, I’m glad that he’s offered to do something with Frank. Frank needs that right now, I think he needs to know that people care about him, and love him.

It’s all written beautifully and you know it Kat. I truly do love this story; stories like this make me extremely happy. Keep up the beautiful work, it’s amazing. Arms

Ah, the latest chapter was wonderful.
I know, I'm a little late on reading it. :XD

I think Frank's whole eating thing is an often used plot point in some fanfics but you've done it so brilliantly and originally and not made the whole story revolve around it. It's excellent.

I'm interested to see what happens with this food competition Gerard's created. :XD

    Looking forward to an update!

Just to let you know Kat, I am writing this while reading it. I have to say, that am very, very excited for this update. Seriously.

I was so nervous. Have you ever been so nervous that you can’t sit still? That you go to the bathroom about a billion times? That you can’t even eat? Not even a leaf of lettuce?
Frank, does it matter that you can’t eat now? What makes a difference to how you usually act?

I blushed slightly, realising how un-roomy my room was. It was hardly considered a teenager’s room at all.
I’m guessing that Frank’s room might be like that because he’s gotten so used to moving all the time that there’s no point putting effort into making it look his own because he might not be there in a little while? Or maybe it’s because he just hasn’t gotten round to unpacking or anything like that. :cute:

Him laughing just made me feel even more embarrassed; he thought this was funny. It so wasn’t.
Maybe Gerard was laughing to cover up the fact that he secretly liked Frank holding his wrist. :tehe:

Gerard looked at me, I knew he was, but I pretended I didn’t notice his raised eyebrow and pointed look. He hardly knows anything about me and it was going to stay that way.

“Is…is this for your Dad’s work?” he finally asked, quietly.

It took me a moment to understand that. I had no clue what they were talking about until I read about the books his dad got his mom when she was sick. Once again, I find it sad that his dad isn’t noticing the same symptoms in his son as his wife had. I mean, he got her books, what has he given Frank? Besides loneliness?

I have some lollies and chips upstairs in my bag, do you mind if I go get them?
    Clever, very clever Gerard.

Gerard’s eyes looked innocent but I could see the slight hardness behind that.
Oh Gerard so knows it’s not funny. I want to give him a pat on the back. I reckon maybe after tonight Gerard might try and have more sleepovers with Frank because he knows Frank will eat if someone’s around. That’s my theory anyway.

    We should have a competition.”

“Of what?” I asked, glancing away from the screen. The movie had started but was only in the first ten minutes so I guess it didn’t matter.

“We need to finish all the lollies, pizza, crisps and chocolate equally. The first one to say no to anything has to take a dare and tell the complete truth to five questions, no matter what the questions are,” he explained with a smirk.

Clever way of making him eat Gerard, making it a competition. But it can backfire just as quickly I reckon. Frank could easily say he ate too quickly or too much and go throw it all back up again.

“Moley moley mole!” he shouted at me.
    :lmfao
    Priceless. Just priceless.

As usual Kat, you have set the standard for amazing writing. I have no idea how you could have been jealous of me because there’s no way I could ever write something that comes even close to this masterpiece you’re creating. I’ve loved every update, and I’ll love every other update that comes along too.
    It’s just amazing. :cute:
