The Technicolor Daydreamer; Folie A Deux.

Six.

A guy. A real, actual guy, I was actually touching one.

I mean, it was his face, but still.

Pale, smooth, acne-free. Nearly luminescent.

The warm, bright-rust colored blood trickling near his ear contrasted sharply with it.

The tiny cut still hadn't clotted yet; it was more like a feeble attempt at turning mildly gelatinous.

Frank did bleed easily.

He smelled like some sort of unique fragrance...body spray, but like his own blood at the same time.

Sweet, rusty, metallic, fragrant....i'm such a cr33per.

Antiseptic-doused cotton ball in hand, I smoothed a dark, wavy wisp of his hair out of the way. It felt like silk. I could feel his jaw clench at the sting when I applied pressure.

"Sorry," I barely managed to get out, swallowing tensely.

I hadn't let in a breath since my fingers had first come in contact with him, and my lungs had no problem informing me.

Forgetting to breathe was fairly common for me; it was a bad habit, of sorts.

...That is, if forgetting an involuntary process counts as a bad habit.

It was silent while I finished doctoring Frank up.

"Thank you," he grinned and looked me in the eyes for a second before averting his gaze to the unseasonably sapphire-hued sky. Creases formed when he squinted at the baking summer sun, both of us in the shade and out of its stinging reach. He rested the back of his head against the wall.

Red brick-- rough, cool, rocky. Cold.

"No problem," I replied casually, watching my world get a little fuzzy-blue around the edges from lack of oxygen. It was kind of a nice, swimmy, lukewarm feeling.

A pause. (And a quick, unintentional breath that caused the haze to disappear.)

"Err...so..." His green orbs darted back and forth in thought. His eyelashes framed them with a faded black glimmer.

"So..."

"What're you into?"

"Into?"

"Yeah, hobbies and stuff."

"Um...I like music..." I trailed off, caught by surprise and blinking. Why did he care?

"What kind?"

"My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, A7X, Panic, all sorts of stuff." I rattled off the list without any hesitation.

"You've got good taste." After he licked them, his now-shiny lips pulled into another smirk. And meanwhile, I felt my stomach and its surrounding neighbors react as if i'd swallowed a mack truck made of bumblebees.

Another pause.

"You can ask me a question, if you want," he offered.

I nodded. "Um...any brothers or sisters?"

Hishazyamazinggreen eyes flickered at that one, and he bit his lip.

Oh, dear. Wrong question. Gah, i'm so stupid sometimes...

"You...don't have to answer. I'm sorry."

He sprung to life. "No! It's not you. My, uh, little sister died when I was little. she was four." His lip twitched at that.

"Oh, i'm sorry..." Very, very sorry.

"It's alright. Stop apologizing! It's the third time you've done it, and i'm beginning to feel like a jerk..." He nudged me with a giggle.

"I'm--"

Before I accidentally let the phrase slip again, he covered my lips with two of his fingers. Those eyes of his got closer to mine, and he raised an eyebrow.

Well, this is new. Very new.

And those butterflies were back, full force.

Darn it.

I swallowed unsurely, inches away from him. His fingers gently slid off my lips and rested back in his lap, but his eyes stayed locked with mine, their lips drooping in an intoxicated, magnetic-pull sort of way.

"We should go," Frank murmured in a quieter-than-usual voice. "I'll see you tomorrow...I think."

He (slowly) helped me up, opened the door for me, and once I was inside he jogged over to a car that pulled up across the street with the stereo booming.

I blinked away all the thoughts ricocheting around in my skull as I headed towards my younger brother, waiting for me by the library.

...Comments, anyone?(Dear gah, I don't care if all you have to say is "nice story"-- hit that button! I'm groveling, here. This story means a lot to me, and i've only gotten two comments, which bothers me. Speaking of which, even more thanks goes out to The Color Abi for her support. )
