The Way They Were

Liar, Liar

Asia's POV

“Glad to be back,” Vivien limped over to the couch.

“Glad to have you back…” I plopped down next to her, careful not to hit her cast. Turns out her leg was shattered.. Not broken, that’s what happens when you get your information from a dyslexic fourteen year old.

“So what are we gonna do?” she glanced at me.

“Um, we could watch a movie I guess…” I turned on the tv. Things were really awkward because we haven’t actually sat down and talked in a long time. Knocked Up was on.

"I guess your right…But that still doesn’t mean I did it" some chick said to a police officer.

“This is boring…” Vivien sighed

“I know right?” I turned off the tv.

We sat in silence for a while when Alex started crying.

I stared at Vivien.

“What the fuck.. I cant walk,” she gestured towards her shattered leg.

Me and my mom have been taking care of that LOUD, stinky, crying ass baby for the past 2 weeks while Vivien’s been in the hospital and right about now I’m ready to drop that child off on an orphanages door step and jump for joy.

The crying got louder.

“Well…?” Vivien just stared back at me.

Luckily my phone rang.

“Yeah,” I answered it.

“Asia… I need to talk to you,” Angelica practically demanded.

“Uh okay.. So talk,” I yelled over Alex’s screams.

“No, like in person…”

“Okay.. So come over, Vivien’s here though,”

“Perfect…” was the last thing she said before she hung up.

Uh.. Does that mean she’s coming or not?

“I swear that child is a few cards short of a full deck..” I mumbled to myself while going to get Alex.

“Who was that?” Vivien asked turning the tv back on.

“Angelica…” I sat next to her.

“What did that bitch want?” she rolled her eyes.

“Watch your language!!” I pointed at Alex.

“Whatever..”

And once again we just sat in silence.

Vivien was going through every freakin channel we had and Alex was pulling my hair and scratching my face. I was ready to throw her out of the window but she cant help how annoying she is… she’s a 3 month old baby.

Ding-Dong

“Don’t answer it!” Vivien yelled when I stood up.

I just ignored her and answered it anyway.

“Hey,” Angelica came in for a hug but realized I was holding Alex.

“Aww… She’s so cute, just like her father” Angelica looked at her

“Go screw yourself or something!” Vivien yelled.

“Why, when I have Travis who can do that for me,” Angelica snarled.

“Drop dead!” Vivien yelled

“Hey, you guys.. No fighting,” I interrupted

“Whatever,” they both said.

I went to go give Alex to Vivien but she pushed her away.

“Can I hold her?” Angelica asked sitting on the other couch.

“No,” Vivien barked.

“Sure..” I handed her Alex and sat back down next to Vivien.

“I think she likes me,” Angelica stared down at her.

“Yeah and I don’t like Hot Fries…” Vivien said.

“You know Vivien.. She looks nothing like you,” Angelica ignored what she just said. “She has Travis’ eyes.. And his ears, and nose-”

“Uh we get it,” I interrupted her.

“I’m just saying, how did Vivien… The girl who said she was NEVER having kids, end up with one and this early.. I mean 17.. come on,” Angelica looked up.

“Umm.. didn’t we already explain how that happened??” I asked, confused on why she was bringing that up.

“Yeah..” Angelica nodded.

“So what are you trying to say?” Vivien lowered my eyes.

“I don’t think she’s yours….” Angelica smiled.

“Oh shit…” I whispered.
