Did You Get What You Deserve?

Chapter 31

Dad laughed.

“Yes,” he said, “I am.”

Cari put her hands to her face. She looked like she was biting her fingers.

“Ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod, Frank Iero,” she whispered.

I looked at her sideways.

“You’re my age. My Chemical Romance was before your time.”

She looked up at me.

“It’s all my cousin ever talked about. I grew up with My Chemical Romance, it’s all I ever listen to. She gave me all the albums, and I know every word of every song.”

Dad rubbed his hands together.

“I now feel compelled to disprove that.”

I groaned.

“Oh, no, Dad, don’t.”

James grinned and pulled me onto his lap.

“This oughta be fun.”

Cari sat down next to Dad.

“Bring it on.”

Dad laughed.

“Complete the line and give me the song. Late dawns...”

“And early sunsets!” exclaimed Cari, “Early Sunsets Over Monroeville. That’s easy.”

“Okay... Wipe off that makeup...”

“What’s in is despair. The End.”

“Shut your eyes...”

“Kiss me goodbye and sleep. That’s from Sleep.”

“I can’t always just forget her...”

“But she could try. The Ghost of You.”

“Hmmm... I’ll never let them hurt you...”

“I promise. Vampires Will Never Hurt You.”

After another quarter of an hour, Dad finally admitted Cari was pretty knowledgeable about My Chemical Romance songs. But then he got another idea.

“Finish the quotes and tell me who said them.”

Cari laughed and nodded.

“No obscure ones though, okay?”

“Okay. Be yourself, don’t take anyone’s shit...”

“And never let them take you alive. Gerard. I mean, come on. That’s like MCR 101!”

Dad grinned.

“I get hurt every fucking day…”

Cari laughed.

“I’m such an idiot. The worst was when I broke my toes. That’s you.”

“How about this one? Hey guys, I’ve figured out what’s up with the camera...”

“It’s Brian Schechter’s sneaky way of spying on us. Bob.”

“Here’s an easy one. Gerard, he’s always been my big brother...”

“Not only that, he’s also my best friend. Mikey, duh.”

“I’m kinda bummed that I didn’t get to hang out more with people...”

“Because I was too busy being a complete and utter hermit in the back. A man obsessed is what I- what I’ve become. Ray.”

Dad grinned.

“Points subtracted for the slip-up.”

I hit him on the arm.

“Shut up! She was word perfect. That’s exactly what Ray said.”

“Alright, alright.”

Cari grinned.

“Give me something that’s not from Life on the Murder Scene.”

“Okay... ooh! Oh Gerard, Gerard...”

Cari stared at him for a moment. Then, just as the triumphant smile was forming on his face, she said slowly,

“You make my heart burn.”

Dad clapped.

“Round of applause! I think that wins the game.”

**Woo, Chapter 31 on the 31st.

Happy Bob Bryar's Birthday, everyone!

*Intermission of several hours*

Only now it's the first.

Damn my brother and his distractions! I started this a few hours ago and I'm only just posting it now.

Happy 2008, everybody!

WOOOOOOO!!!

Ooh, I almost forgot to mention to people who commented.

Lemme just go check who did...

*toddles off to check*

Right, Bellkura and Days_News, who is now LearningLines. So, Bellkura and LearningLines. Cari, I liked your old username better. XD

Anyways, my Dad is booting me off the computer because it's past midnight (duh!) so goodbye, farewell to 2007, and everybody have a great 2008!

This is where I would normally put in a long speech about how '07 has been such a great year, but I think my Dad is coming back, so I will just say it has been a year I will never forget, or at least not until I forget everything else about my life and visits to see me will elicit groans from my grandchildren- but I digress. It has been a year to remember, what with change of school, new friends, etc etc etc. Thank you to everyone who made this year great, and... yeah. Have a good year.

Mwah, mwah, I love you all.**
