On one hand I'm going "He was introduced in a chapter during which we're reminded of Alec's rape, he must be up to something" while on the other I'm going "Yay! A seemingly nice person who doesn't do anything nasty to her. Especially since she was feeling rather down about that entire episode. Yay!". So, I am divided.
And I'm not sure what other drama you could do without repeating yourself. Possibly.

Was almost expecting big!Alec to get cut off there by excited shouts and so forth. Because there is only one kind of result for that kind of sentence starter.
