The Queen's Keeper
Every night, there was a single light that shined up in the highest tower; it could be seen from all around, even though it only gave off a tiny flicker.
That light was a symbol of hope, for millions of people all alike; it offered them hope that the evil queen would remain in her eternal slumber. They all went to their beds at night, with peace in their hearts, knowing they would be safe. Children were lulled off to sleep a little bit easier. Doors were left unlocked, and women roamed freely by themselves.
Until one night, that light went out.
