The Life I Never Knew I Had

The Life I Never Knew I Had Chapter 16

Dinner time was here and we all gathered around the dining table.
“Princess Jennifer,” Skye said. “I heard you picked out a dress for the ball,”
I smiled at her. “I did,”
“I bet you’ll look beautiful,”
“She will,” Elliott corrected.
I smiled at him and continued eating.
“What about you, Princess Shelby?” Skye asked.
“I picked it out today, as well,”
“You girls will look stunning,”
We smiled at her then at each other.
Dinner was over quickly and Shelby and I headed to our rooms.
I was going to miss rooming with her.
After I took a shower and got ready for bed, I went next door and knocked on Shelby’s door.
“Hey,” she smiled at me.
“Can I see your new room?”
“Come in, come in!” she pulled inside and I looked around in awe.
Her room was very orange.
She had a light orange color on the walls and floor.
There were orange candles around the room, along with a tall lamp.
Her bed was big and comfy.
“I like it,”
“Thanks, it’s just what I wanted,”
I smiled. “Good,”
“See you in the morning,”
“You too,”
We hugged before I left.
I was about to walk into my room when I heard faint voices.
I followed them and they got louder.
“Elliott, we are not having this conversation again! No, she must no nothing,” Damien yelled
“Father!” Ryan and Elliott said together, their voice blended together.
“She’s going to find out, it’s just better if we tell her,” Ryan said.
“I love her father, I cannot keep a lie from a love one,” Elliott begged
“I think Shelby should know too,” Ryan added.
“I don’t care! They will not know and that is that!” Damien boomed once again.
“Boys listen to your father,” Skye pleaded.
“But mother!”
“There is nothing more to talk about!”
I quickly left the doorway of the room and headed back to mine.
What were they hiding?
How do I get Elliott to tell me?
I crawled into bed and picked up my school book.
I had to read chapters fifteen to twenty then write an essay about it.
Elliott walked into my room and smiled at me.
“Hello Princess,”
“Hey, what’s up, you look sad,”
“I’m fine,” he said joining me. “Now,” he smiled.
“Good,”
He kissed me and I smiled.
“You can tell me anything, you know that right?”
“Of course,”
“No secrets right?”
He nodded his head and forced a smiled.
I kissed him again, then pulled away.
“Join me?” I asked.
“Sure,”
Elliott got under the covers and wrapped his arm around me as I read.
Around midnight we fell asleep.
*****
The week flew by quickly.
I spent most of it with Doctor Martin. I saw my friends and family more as well.
The ball was tomorrow and we practiced and went over everything, you’ll think the ball already happened.
I’ve been extremely tired all week.
Going to school and being a princess was too much work for one girl.
Somehow my grades stayed strong.
I was finishing up my essay for school, when Ryan walked in.
“Hey,”
“Hi,” I said, I engrossed in my work to look up.
“School work?” he asked.
“Yup, due tonight,”
“How’s it making out?” he asked lying next to me on the bed.
“Good, almost done,”
“Good. Ready for tomorrow?”
“No,”
“Nervous?”
“A little,”
“You’ll be fine and the pretties girl there,”
I looked over at him and smiled.
What about Shelby? Was what I wanted to say, but I kept quite and continued writing.

Ryan’s Point Of View

I watch Jennifer type up her essay and I smiled a little.
She was so smart and beautiful.
I wanted to be with her.
I sighed and she looked over at me. “What?”
“Nothing,”
“Okay. I’m done!” she smiled. “I would proof read but it’s due in five minutes,”
As I watched her email her essay to her teacher, I felt bad for her.
She had no idea what lied ahead. Jennifer couldn’t become a doctor if Father’s plan carried through.
I wanted to tell her the truth just as badly as Elliott wanted too.
“So,” she said closing her laptop. “Ready for tomorrow?”
“A little,”
She nodded her head.
“I should go, night princess,”
“Good night!” she sang. “You know, it’s really nice being nice to you,”
“It is,” I smiled.
She smiled her beautiful smile and I left her room.

Jennifer’s Point Of View

Once Ryan left Elliott joined me in bed.
The next morning came and I got to sleep in.
I was awoken at eight o’clock.
Elliott led me to the bathroom and I took a quick shower.
I changed into short and a t shirt and joined everyone at the dinner table.
“Morning,” I said smiling.
“Morning,”
“Are you excited?” Shelby asked.
“No,”
“Why not?”
“I’m nervous,”
“Don’t be, I went to my sister’s ball, it’s not that bad,”
“You had a sneak peek,”
She laughed. “It’s really not that bad,”
“Yeah, that’s what they all say,”
Once breakfast was over.
Ryan, Elliott, Shelby and I hung out in the living room.
We hung out there until six.
Lance, Sebastian, a maid and another guy came and got us.
Sebastian took me to the meeting hall.
The maids that help me get ready had my dress out and ready.
I changed into it.
Then they did my hair and make up.
Seven o’clock hit and we moved to my room to finish up.
Shelby and I were still getting ready and the guys were already down stairs getting the guest.
Eight o’clock hit and I was ready.
Shelby was first.
She already walked down the stair case and had her spotlight dance with Ryan.
She already meet the guests and had a glass of wine.
Now it was my turn.
My stomach was filled with butterflies and my palms were sweaty.
I reached the top of the stairs and looked down.
All eyes were on me.
As I made my way down the stairs, the only person I could see was Ryan.
He looked amazing. He smiled when he saw me.
I smiled a little then focused my attention on Elliott.
He looked good too.
He grinned at me and led me to the middle of the room.
It was time for our spotlight dance.
The music played and Elliot and I dance.
I looked him in the eye and smiled, as we danced.
Once the music was over everyone clapped and surrounded me.
I smiled and shook hands and hugged, various family members and friends.
I too had a glass of wine.
Dinner was severed and everyone had a toast to Ryan and Shelby and Elliott and I.
Once dinner was over everyone danced together.
“May I?” Ryan asked Elliott.
Elliott kissed my cheek before handing me to Ryan.
We smiled and danced together.
“You look amazing,”
“You too,” I smiled.
“Not so bad right?”
“Yeah, I’m having fun, a little,”
“Good, a little fun is better than no fun,”
“True. What about you?”
“I’m having fun now,”
I think I blushed.
“You’re so beautiful,” Ryan muttered.
I couldn’t help but smile. “You’re so handsome,” I said closing the space between us.
He smiled and looked at my lips then my eyes. “Princess,” Elliott called me.
I stepped away and came back to reality.
I walked away from Ryan and into Elliott’s arms.
He introduced me to more family and friends.
I meet Shelby’s family too.
Around midnight, everything seemed over welleming.
I escaped to the sunroom and walked out on the balcony, letting the cool night air hit my face.
I used this time to clear my head and relax.
“Need to escape too,”
I looked over my shoulder to see Ryan.
“Yeah, it was too much,”
He walked over to me.
“The moon is so bright tonight,” he said.
“So are the stars,”
“Yeah,”
“I love the night sky, it’s so beautiful and free,”
“Like you,”
“I’m not free, I’m trapped in these walls,”
“Right,”
“It’s not your fault, well, you brought me here, but whatever,”
Ryan cupped my face and made me face him.
“And I’m sorry for that, I shouldn’t have stolen you away-”
“Don’t worry about it, you were doing your job,”
“In the process I fell for the wrong girl,”
“Huh?” I barley whispered.
Ryan closed the space between us and our lips parted slowly.
His warm lips met mine and everything felt right.
